Where to start? We were greeted kindly upon entering and seated quickly. It felt like we were at a family breakfast, as our hostess sat down and talked to us after placing our order. Come to find out her husband is from the same small town as my wife. The food was quick to arrive and gone even faster. I had the biscuit’s & gravy while my wife chose the Finnish Pancake, we both had sourdough toast. Both of the meals were good, but the sourdough took the cake for both of us from the crust, to the taste, and texture. We also bought a few items a t-shirt and some stickers, too. Archie’s will be our go-to spot when up rock hounding in the Grand Marais area.

What a unique and wonderful place! We had a great meal (breakfast pasty with gravy- their gravy is 11/10) while admiring all the beautiful things to see. The gift shop is adorable and we found a lot of great things to take home. If you’re in the area, definitely give them a try.

This place is awesome! If I could give more than five stars, I would. The atmosphere is super fun and friendly. The staff were all great, so attentive and welcoming! They have a gift shop upstairs that also continues downstairs into the restaurant itself. Lots of unique and reasonably priced items for sale. There are pies and baked goods in a case at the front counter, and an outside eating area. The food was delicious! I had the breakfast pasty, and the crust was perfect. The fruit compote on the waffle was really tasty, and the baked goods were really yummy. We were so happy we stopped in!

My family had the best experience here during our trip to Grand Marais. Judy was our server, and she was so, so kind and helpful. She gave us recommendations for places to visit during our stay, she threw in some extra food samples for us to try, and above all, she was just so warm and friendly. We really needed that after having a negative experience with a rude server elsewhere in town. The food here was amazing and priced reasonably. The atmosphere was so quirky and eclectic. I got some really cool greeting cards and salt and pepper shakers from the gift shop. I highly recommend this place!

This place is the best restaurant we ate at during our whole 3 week road trip. We purposely came here for the style and because it is listed as LGBTQ+ Friendly. We were far from disappointed! My wife got the Pasty and I got the smash burger. Both were AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS. The items for sale in the 2 story gift shop are cute. They have post cards, magnets, puzzles, clothing, etc. Also, they sell various canned goods, baked items, and bottled soda. The owner, Jenn, is incredibly friendly and welcoming like you are part of the family. It’s been years since I’ve met such a caring owner in all of my travels. I hope life takes me back to this area again so we can stop by for another great meal!

Archies West Bay Diner is inside of an old box train car that was purchased from Pennsylvania in the late 50’s, The setup is super unique and the staff are super friendly and personable. It is vintage all the way and worth it. There is also, a little shop that’s connected to the car by some stairs. It has many kids games, activities, t-shirts, notebooks, stickers, pins, magnets and household things, as well as many other things. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and that had an inviting atmosphere. My family and I will be back again!!

Stopped in to try the Kropsua (Finish pancakes) we saw on their website. I now have a new favorite breakfast diner. Sorry Heidi’s of Lake Tahoe, you have been outdone in the quaint Upper Peninsula by Archie’s Diner as our #1 favorite in the USA. Food was amazing, staff were warm and welcoming and the decor was adorable. Very nice gift shop to browse while waiting for a table. Go early and hungry so you can savor the entire experience.

Great little family run restaurant and gift shop, the front of which is a 40’s-50’s style steel trolly car. All day breakfast, lunch and bakery items. The gift shop opens up into the 2nd floor, which is packed wall to wall with books, plushies, syrups, stickers, art, and all manner of gifts and collectibles. The owner is there working all the time and is a very dedicated and all around wonderful lady. Clean, spacious and comfortable bathrooms. Parking in the front or rear, entrance is around back. Say yes to ~gravy~ and don’t forget to get a muffin.
