Highly recommend giving this place a shot if you’re in the mood for sushi or Japanese food. Jo’s Honda Sushi is always at the top of my list as an available option when I’m in town. Easy to find, lots of parking, attentive service, and a large menu. The food is fresh, flavorful, fairly priced, and I always leave full and thoroughly impressed with my dining experience.

This is one of those places you cannot find just anywhere, Jo’s is more than just a restaurant it’s an experience with a family who genuinely have a passion for their profession.

The food is delicately crafted with generous portions, the flavor profiles well thought out. The food here looks more like an art form than a simple product. Colorful, carefully arranged, and with wonderful flavor.

But it’s hard not to see how much more this restaurant offers, as you’re greeted joyfully as you enter and exit by the whole family working together to assure a great experience with good service. Each member quickly goes about their job but manages to give a personal and friendly experience to each table.

The building itself though small and tucked between larger businesses is in a peaceful and safe corner of The Valley. The interior decorated with items both symbolic and personal, from mementos of passed guests to heirlooms, showing humor and tradition all in one place. No matter where you look there is more to see.

Make sure to take time to talk to Chef Honda and his family, so you can see the genuine joy they have interacting with guests. Because when you dine here that is what it feels like, being a guest in their home versus just another customer anywhere else.

Great local spot! You can tell a lot of the diners are regulars and/or friends of the owners. Everyone is very nice and attentive, and the sushi is fabulous. We got the dynamite, cooked scallop, caterpillar, and the veggie tempura. Paired with a delightful unfiltered sake. Highly recommend! Just note that the space is pretty small so not great for a huge group.

Just ate dinner here for my birthday and it was perfect. The sushi was tasty and the service was very kind. They also did a cool song drum song and thing for my birthday. Definitely found our sushi spot!

They’ve been in biz for a long time in a forgotten corner near JFK U but have a great reputation in my opinion due to their independence, consistency and quality. Chef always on deck is critical, and good apprenticeship is what is all about to sustaining a good restaurant. It’s how real restaurant in Japan does it and you can see it here. If you’re tired of sushi made by who knows who they are come by Honda to taste the real stuff. You won’t be disappointed!

Ordered takeout on New Years Eve and was not disappointed. The food did take almost 2 hours to be ready but that was to be expected with the holiday. They did call us that the food was ready earlier and were thoughtful to ask if we needed chopsticks and soy sauce. The sushi was delicious! We got the lion king roll, green river, and crazy monkey roll – would order all those rolls again! We got so excited to eat the sushi, we forgot to take a picture before we started eating. Overall, great customer service, great food and would recommend coming here for sushi!

We just moved to the area and this was our first Japanese restaurant after moving over here. We really love Japanese food so we were really happy to find this place.

The sashimi / tempura bento box was a really large serving, plenty for leftovers. I also ordered myself a saba shio dinner plate, which came with two large fillets. Both were tasty. I was really happy they it came with seaweed salads (usually I’ll order those as an appetizer).

They also gave use a couple of these small dishes that were like croquettes with shrimp. Those were very tasty, and glad they offered a little sample on the house.

I’ll definitely come back here again and bring friends when they’re over.

Just had a wonderful dinner, first time here.

Loved the baked scallop sushi roll, ikura, unagi, bento box with salmon and tempura, shrimp combo veggie tempura and also enjoyed the gyoza and shrimp appetizer on the house!!! Great experience, friendly server and chill restaurant!!

Came with my son(5months) for a quick lunch. Got there about 40mins before closing. Right away you can tell this place is top notch. Everything tasted wonderful. I cannot wait to bring my boyfriend back for a dinner sometime.

Ok, I usually have nothing but got things to say about this place but tonight I ordered my usual (rainbow roll & spicy tuna) and it was terrible. The fish was slimy, the presentation was terrible, the avocado was mush… I don’t understand what happened but I ended up throwing half of it away because I couldn’t get through it. I’m so disappointed, especially since I just waited 33 dollars. I can’t afford sushi very often so this is doubly disappointing. I’ll definitely try it again but it they don’t fix whatever this was it will be my last time eating here, and it’s literally across the street.
