This is clearly a local favorite. The servers were initially curious if we were lost when we arrived. There are a few tables and it’s not ultra crowded but it is an intimate setting. No outdoor seating and everything is inside. The kitchen is nearby and you can see everything.
The food was delicious. I’d recommend the beef bulgogi or the short ribs. They were some of the best I’ve ever had. It can be a bit pricy, but worth it. Definitely get a side of rice as well. They give you tea, Korean appetizers, and sauces to go with your meal.
If you want to try a traditional and authentic Korean restaurant, I’d recommend checking this place out. It was intimate, authentic, and didn’t take itself too seriously while offering excellent food!
We got quite a few items –
Medium Intestine Combo (large intestines, small intestines, abomasum)
Medium Galbi-jjim (braised short ribs)
Seafood Pancakes x 2
Spicy Tteok-bokki
Spicy Blood Sausage Soup
Galbi-Tang (short rib soup)
My favorite dishes of the meal were
Galbi-jjim – the meat was so tender and just fall off the bone, love the sweetness of the dish!
Seafood Pancakes – though pretty standard but they do a great job on the balancing the ingredients and the pancakes had the right amount of crispiness!
Spicy Teton-bokki- unfortunately didn’t get to take a photo as it was the group’s favorite. It was perfect for me but definitely on the spicier side
Galbi-Tang – this dish was ok, but on the saltier side. Hard to compare this to my other favorite place in South Bay. iykyk!
As for the rest, they were kind of a miss for me.
Intestine combo – though intestine dishes tend to be quite fatty, I find this one especially overwhelming, specifically the large intestines.
Spicy blood sausage soup – this dish wasn’t spicy but it had a quite distinctive herby taste and the soup had grainy texture. I also didn’t really enjoy the blood sausage.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to people who love grilled intestines!
My coworker told me about this place and told me about the assorted pork soup (dwaeji gukbap?). It was so delicious! The soup arrives unseasoned, but there’s a spiced salt that you can use to taste. The milky soup was so savory and the pork was satisfying to eat with kimchi.
The galbi here is cooked well too and falls off the bone souper easily. The banchan here is tasty. My favorite was the cold seaweed salad!
This restaurant is tucked away on a quieter street off of El Camino. Parking was pretty easy on a weekday!
The variety of grilled innards is nice and none of it tastes too gamey. Large, large selection of shareable soup and casserole dishes as well. The regular apps (anything under that section on the menu) like the seafood pancake and mandu are just alright.
