First time visit. Looks like a small corner restaurant from the outside but inside has lots of table seating and a full bar. There is also patio seating outback tables with umbrellas really nice. There is on street parking and a small parking lot out back. Service was excellent. Nice menu with a lot to choose from. Prices were competitive and portion size was perfect. I would definitely return.

Food was good, let’s start with that. However, service was very slow and they did not have a full house when we were there, at best it was half full. We also had to ask multiple times for bread and drinks. They nickel and dime customers by charging for refills and adding a 3% fee for using a credit card. They brought us an extra plate we didn’t order then tried to charge us for it. The atmosphere was nice and the food again, was good. However, due to the service being very slow and the nickel and dime nature, we most likely won’t ever go back.

1.Water tastes like city tap water without proper filtration.

2. The food was good however it was drenched in so much sauce that it overpowered all the other ingredients flavors of the dish causing a bland taste. It is because of those reasons that i consider it slightly overpriced.

3. Atmosphere was great.

4. Service started off great until the end. They tried to charge me an additional 3% credit card use fee that was automatically added to my total. They didn’t respectively ask me what form of payment I would be using today. They just automatically added it. when I brought it to their attention that I would be paying in cash. They got frustrated & disgruntled because they had to fix the bill. I gave them cash to pay the bill and the server made a True Statement that a tip would be based off the total amount before discount. However, he presented it in a sarcastic disgruntled manner.

As a courtesy, I will give you some true statements too.

1. Federal law prohibits businesses from charging you a surcharge fee for debit card use as long as you put in your pin #.

2. A business is allowed to charge you a credit card processing fee percentage Or if you use your debit card as a credit card. However, make sure you put in your pin # So you don’t get charged a credit card processing fee.

3. If you purchase food for take out only.
You are not required to tip. ITS Take Out

4. When you are Dining In. Tipping is completely voluntarily unless there is mandatory gratuity percentage included
In the total bill. However this needs to be clearly stated, written, posted, and brought to the attention of the customer before ordering.

5. If you do decide to add a tip it has increased to 18% on average.

Where to start. We wanted so bad to like it here, it was our first time coming and when we walked in it seemed like a quanit little place, a hidden gem. Unfortunately the service and the ridiculous wait time ruined this dining experience. We had to ask for drinks several times throughout the whole meal In order to get them. Also had to ask for more bread at least 4 times. The food took forever to come out, granted we were a table of 11 but over an hour is just unacceptable, it really wasn’t even that busy. The real problem began at check time. We ordered 3 kids meals they brought 4. We ordered 1 Moscato they charged us for 2. The very unfortunate part is they then argued with us and would not take the items off the check. On top of that they then tried to force a 20 percent tip and then added an 11 dollar charge for using a credit card. Holly molly what a terrible experience. The food was good but unfortunately we will never again be going to this restaurant. Very poorly run and was very rude to us as customers for the mistakes they and the kitchen made. Truly unacceptable.

You Need To Know? Arrived with reservations for 5:30 on a Friday Night to this fine dining Italian restaurant. Service was quick & polite. We ordered the cheese ravioli with Alfredo sauce which the sauce was delicious & made the ravioli worth it. We also had chicken ricotta which was stuffed with prosciutto. Fantastic flavor only wish there was more of it to fill the appetite. We also had the braised beef short ribs which were served with roasted potatoes & green beans. The beef fell off the bone it was very tender. The homemade gravy sauce was fantastic & worth a try if you stop by. Quiet, fancy, & flavorful…what more can you ask for. Now You Know! – TBH

My husband and I are big foodies, but it is pretty sad when you live in the Pittsburgh area and have to drive 269 miles for 4 hours in 19 minutes to find excellent authentic northern Italian cuisine. The executive chef at Buona Sera Italian restaurant in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania, who is self trained, has totally mastered the art of northern Italian cuisine. We found this little gem when we were in Wilkes-Barre Pennsylvania in 2024 for a wedding and vowed to come back. Yes, it’s off the beaten path, but the food is phenomenal and you will not regret for one second taking the time to find this little gem! The restaurant is hidden in a residential area of Wilkes-Barre, but Google maps will get you there and you won’t be sorry. You will have a fantastic meal, served with warmth in an old world atmosphere, that will beckon your return.
Five stars all the way!

First time going to Buona Sera. Celebrated my daughter’s 30th birthday with 10 family members. Food was good, service was attentive and the total cost with drinks, appetizers and main courses was less than I expected. Will definitely go back again

The food is lovely! The crab and lobster ravioli is classic with a tasty cream / blush sauce that stands on its own. The shrimp franchese comes with plump, fresh shrimp cooked perfectly. If they have the pork osso bucco, you won’t regret ordering it. On other visits, I’ve been obsessed with the veal park.

The service is also great and attentive. They have a great team and we truly enjoy chatting with everyone when we dine at the restaurant. Thank you!

We had our 41st anniversary dinner there. I requested a quiet table for two (I have hearing issues). The table? Perfect. The food? outstanding. The service? Friendly, attentive and we felt like the only diners there; as if we had the full attention of everyone (yes there were other tables and diners). The Atmosphere? We had our quiet, secluded table as requested.

My wife and I now have “our place” for quiet meals together. (The tiramisu I shared with my wife was to die for. )

Reservations aren’t necessary, but in my case, to assure the best possible experience due to my hearing, I felt it necessary.

Thank you, Buona Sera Ristorante, for a perfect anniversary meal.

First time at this restaurant. Very very good Italian food. Excellent service. Wish I took some pictures, I would recommend this restaurant!

Update: 2nd visit proved that Buona Sera has consistent, excellent food and service. We where greeted promptly and seated. Our drink order was taken quickly and bread provided.

Appetizers included Clams Casino and Stuffed Mushrooms. Enough to share.

Dinners where Shrimp Scampi, Braised Pork shank, Sole stuffed with Crab stuffing and topped with shrimp, Shrimp Franchisee made gluten free! All where worthy of ordering again!
