Sad to see it so quiet inside, the food was very good! Was visiting some friends and came here, glad we did.

If I had any complaint it would have been the kind lady didn’t check on us after the food came out and we needed refills, at least we had waters too.

Best chicken and waffles I have ever had!

My guests enjoyed their food too!!

Had also taken my wife a club sandwich to go and she really enjoyed it and the grill cheese and onion rings I brought home!

Would definitely go back again if I was in the area again

Holy Gosh found the very best outrageous delicious CATFISH in the city, got 3 Cornmeal breaded Filet with Grits n Eggs true deal. I know a few that has this combination this one Holy Wowed. Fast friendly service really nice family restaurant. We had the Chili Special with Loose Burger and heavy Onions. A mega Chicken Greek Salad , Club Pita and the monster One Pound Cheeseburger that’s right just add a 2nd half pound patty for a few bucks more. Called & made a takeout order. My disappointment came from the outrageous price & the taste of the grub. $27 for grilled chicken pita & a bottled soda. The soda was great, BUT , BUT the chicken pita… has a lack luster taste, the pita must’ve been2 dayshard old & the fries were very hard & the red seasoning was deplorable! Please take a play out of Omega Coney Island on W 8 mile east of Telegraph Rd! Over priced & NASTY!!

I visited Pete’s Grill, and ordered a grilled chicken Greek salad, it was ok. But what was not ok is the menu said one price and the mean cashier charged me a whole different price. It was in the evening, she had bad energy and all she could say is, I just work here, the price is the price..needless to say, I have not been back and won’t go back. She needs an attitude adjustment when dealing with the public..

I was on assignment to photograph this restaurant’s dishes for Doordash.
I was impressed how fresh the dishes looked!
I was able to take home the lemon chicken and it was very tasty!
This is a family run establishment for the past 6 years. The mother Luljeta works closely with her 4 daughters, son George and husband Chris. She boasts of amazing and loyal patrons. She will welcome you with a nice and warm smile each and every time. I highly recommend Motown Cafe and Grill to satisfy your appetite!

This was my first visit, I ordered breakfast here. The Mexican omelet with grits. Since this particular coney island doesn’t give toast with their omelet, I ordered a half order of pancakes.
The omelet and grits was 13, pancakes was 4 bucks.
Yet I paid basically $20 dollars. Why?? Because they add hella fees for doing nothing. They charged me gratuity for TAKE OUT. Yet, there weren’t even any napkins in my bag.
You would think if they’re going to charge all of these extra fees they would make sure they add everything you’d need to eat properly.
There excuse for charging extra for doing nothing, is because they put it in very small print on the bottom of their receipt. However, the girl said nothing of this charge when I ordered over the phone.

Then when I had sticker shock by the 20 bucks for this meal that is usually 12 bucks tops elsewhere (including grits n toast ), I asked for a menu. The girl told me they don’t have paper menu’s, and there is a QR code I can scan, then proceeded to hand me a paper menu behind the counter. Which now gives the vibe of they don’t have paper menu’s for certain people.

Also, I’m glad I had cash. Because from reading other reviews, I would’ve been charged extra for that as well. Smh.

I want to add, the pancakes were decent. The grits tasted bitter like it was made with spoiled milk. The omelet was very salty and had lots of uncooked meat mixed in. I pray I don’t get salmonella for eating some of it.

The outside of the building looked nice, and I was able to park easily.

This was my first time eating at this restaurant, and it will be my last.
I rather go somewhere else where my food will be cooked thoroughly, there are no secret hidden fees for doing nothing, and pay half the cost.

I included pics so that you guys can see the menu, and what I ordered. In the pics you can’t see how red the meat still is, but it’s definitely there.

This is a hidden gem. I have eaten here over the years and have always had a good experience. The food is always tasty with generous portions. It’s good to have a neighborhood restaurant Were you can visit set now and enjoy a good meal.

2023 : Regardless of the food. If your going to charge a gratuity, you should have a sign. If your going to charge a “card transaction fee” you should have a sign… paid an extra $5 & wouldn’t have know had I not asked for an itemized receipt. Or asked why the price I was charged was still not the price on the itemized receipt smh

Second edit 2024: I see the owner respond saying my review is “harassment”. Since when is informing people of your card fees & gratuity that’s in your policy harassment? Reviews are meant to inform people, good or bad. I didn’t bash your food, your servers, or your atmosphere. I simply informed future customers of hidden fees. & when you stated it was listed on your menu, I posted the picture I had taken.

I recommend getting someone else to respond to your reviews, not everyone can handle criticism. Whoever is replying does not want your business to succeed. Your customers are literally asking for full transparency. & given other reviews regarding the same issue, maybe it’s time to come up with a better resolution to the issue.

Putting my original 3 start review (the food was good, so I was giving them that) down to 1 star for owners response.
