I was blown away by this little hole in the wall. They could certainly use an atmosphere upgrade but the food is fantastic and the service is amazing. The staff are incredibly attentive and the most friendly crew I’ve encountered eating out in the last several years. We will definitely be back.

The food was absolutely outstanding. Every dish was rich in flavor, perfectly spiced, and tasted truly authentic. Mehfil Indian Bistro and the team there are great. The food is phenomenal – be warned they have the spices to order mild or no spice if you’re not a spice eater – but its great quality.
They CATER – so easily – same day or day prior – drop a text – and they will deliver and set you up. We love working with Mehfil for parties. Too easy. Too good.

Had a truly sumptuous meal at Mehfil Indian Restaurant! Everything was flavorful and beautifully prepared, but the coconut fish curry was the standout—rich, fragrant, and perfectly cooked with just the right balance of spice and creaminess.
Portions were generous, the food tasted fresh and authentic, and the service was warm and attentive. After a long day in Truckee, this was exactly the kind of comforting Indian meal we were hoping for.

Real World
The first thing someone notices on entering a restaurant is the VIBE that was not welcoming at all. The person didn’t seem to be paid well as he didn’t have even a little smile on the face all the time. We ordered some food items as there was no other Indian restaurant nearby . The portion was really small. Paneer tikka masala tasted good. Chicken biryani didn’t seem like the actual one didn’t like it at all. Actually there’s some kind of confusion about the appearance of the food according to the names .

We are British and quite partial to curry! We tried Mehfil Indian Bistro and were very pleasantly surprised. The goat curry was delicious – tender meat and very well put together. We had the chicken vindaloo and it was excellent – with the right amount of citric bite and a high spice rating of 9/10 (i.e. very hot!). The raita was excellent, as was the garlic Nan bread. The atmosphere is a bit spartan – but the food is freshly cooked and very well done. And portions are very generous. Highly recommended.

I recently ordered from this restaurant, and I’m so impressed! They have an excellent variety of vegetarian dishes as well as plenty of protein options. I’m pretty sensitive to food, and I could tell everything was made FRESH — perfectly seasoned and delicious. The portion sizes are generous, so you get good value for your money.
I’m picky when it comes to Indian restaurants, but this place has won me over — I’m literally here again waiting for my next order! My only minor complaint is that the bread feels a bit pricey (I’m used to getting around four pieces for $5), but aside from that, good is a 10/10.

They adjusted the spice level based on our request. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic Indian cuisine. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. Can’t wait to return.
