We stopped here for coffee on our way south. Picked the place 1) because of the name ‍♀️ ‍♀️ 2) there were pictures of coffee in mugs {isn’t that the only way to drink coffee?? }, 3) they have a good rating.
There is a free parking garage right next door to the place, very convenient considering we came down after the huge snowstorm (Fern) and there was snow EVERYWHERE! Parking on the street was impossible. BTW, if you do park on the street beware of the 2 hour paid parking areas. They seem (although it could be my imagination) to be intermittent with the 2 hour free parking areas. Hmmm.
Anyway, the place is cute. Cozy. Coffee was really good (strong flavor, yum). The food looked good, we didn’t eat but everyone else that was there or came in ordered food, soooo, take what you want with that.
I will definitely save this place for future reference and I hope we get to come back.

Recommended by a friend, Café du Soleil was an excellent stop on our way out of Alexandria. Recommend the ham & cheese or smoked salmon crepe. Quiche had a wonderful texture with a perfect balance of ham and cheese.

Cafe du Soleil II just opened in Old Town Alexandria, at 720 Jefferson Street, right on time for spring! So cozy, warm, inviting and from the same crew that has been building community around their first location opened since March 2020 on Union Street, across from Indigo Hotel.
The new space is spacious, lots of light, friendly smiles, great coffee, French cafe food, wine and pastries. They will also have outdoor seating as soon as the weather allows it, so dog and people friendly too! The owners and staff are just wonderful, kind people!

Great coffee, atmosphere and quality. Although, a little pricey, it’s normal for the area. I like how you can get coffee in a glass mug, versus the usual paper coffee cup.

I’ve had their:
✅ full baguette with butter
✅ antioxidant berry smoothie
✅ bacon

Can be a bit noisy sitting outside during the 7-10am commute, but after that, it’s great.

If you’re Italian, you might not like the French-style cappuccino (too big).

We have made Cafe du Soleil our go to breakfast place. I love their bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich and my wife says their avocado toast is the best she’s ever had. The atmosphere is very nice. My only suggestion would be to have a consistent employee at the register. Sometimes the order intake is a bit slow due to lack of training. That said, the food and drinks are really outstanding.

I’ve had the savory veggie crepe and a salad here and both have been excellent! While this location on Jefferson is smaller, it still works out. When the weather is nice, the tables outside are a great addition. The entryway is a little tight but not a huge issue if you have patience during a busier time. Great to have a this place offering breakfast options in this part of Old Town!

I just had a religious experience with the almond croissant. Best I think I ever had. Crepes are always fantastic as are the coffee drinks. So cute inside and everyone that works there is super friendly. My only complaint is I wished they stayed open later so I could make it after work to drink the wine! So happy this place joined the neighborhood!
