I had previously been to a TASTE in Chesapeake, probably about 7 years ago so when in the area and seeing this one I stopped in for lunch. I forgot just how amazing their menu is, not to mention the quality and freshness of their food!
I tried their chicken pot pie soup and a curry chicken salad sandwich on their amazing, soft multigrain bread. But were OUTSTANDING!!! They have a large of selection to choose from when it comes to salads and sandwiches, as well as some regular soups and a daily special too. Many chips and other takeaway items in the store as well.
I wish we had one of these in the Fredericksburg area, I’d be there all the time!

Sucks they don’t have hot coffee! But I give it 5 stars for the experience. Three for the food cause of how flat the sandwich is for the price! Everyone was so nice but this is definitely more catered towards the upper class. Great place to buy big route 11 chips though! I’m already tearing the mama zumba’s up!

I have been eating at Taste (Hiltop and Norfolk Locations) for almost 2 decades. It is my absolute favorite sandwich/salad place. Service is super efficient, plus i love being able to order in advance! The food is consistently outstanding, always fresh and delicious. Have used them for catering as well! Recommend highly!!!.

The food has always been good at Taste but yesterday I ordered something I didn’t care for and the manager and cashier at the Norfolk store went out of their way to make sure I got something I did like. I cannot tell you how appreciative I am. Their positive attitudes and loving kindness meant so much to me, my husband, and son. I have always recommended Taste and will continue to do so!

I typically order from this location as well as the Harbourview one. Never had an issue and food is always fresh and tasty. However, today I ordered from the Ghent location and decided to use delivery since I wasn’t able to pick up. They partner with Doordash (which not a huge fan) and received updates that order was picked up. Order was delivered however it was not my sandwich, it was seafood from Peter’s Seafood in Portsmouth. The delivery driver (who didnt seem to with it by the way) came back to the house to retrieve the food item. When I asked him if he had my sandwich, he replied that he didnt. So I was not pleased. Pressed for time, I immediately called the restaurant and sure enough that person did pick up my food. I called Doordash….got someone who didnt speak very good english….wasted 45 minutes of my time. Awful customer service….and this is why I am not a fan. So long story….I ended calling the restaurant back and spoke with Ruth who was super nice and so helpful. She needs a raise for outstanding customer service. She called Doordash and was able to get the order cancelled and refunded. Thanks Ruth!

A wonderful experience and very surprising. When you first walk in, you think it’s a store with all of the items to buy, but it’s an awesome place to sit down and have a great meal. The sandwiches are amazing, I was very surprised by the biscuits: small but pack a lot of flavor and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend TASTE.

I picked up a large order on 2/18. When I camp to pick it up the associate kindly told me I mistakenly ordered for the following day. I was panicked because it was for a very important work event. She smiled and told me they would handle it and within 10 minutes my order was ready. I am so appreciative and blown away by their customer service. Thank you so much!

I’ve been coming to Taste off and on for the last 4 years, but this is my first time actually leaving a review. The sandwiches and service are always great, so better late than never! I moved away to Florida from Norfolk for a couple years because of my job, and I couldn’t find a sandwich place that was equivalent to Taste. I missed it. Now that I live here again, I’ll be hitting up Taste more often! The Northender is arguably the best sandwich there, what with the avocado and the soft sliced French bread. The Lynnhaven is a close second for me–it is served warm with cheddar pimento spread atop a chiabatta bun. Always a banger. My son, a 2-year-old, absolutely destroyed the ham bento box. He loved it! We ended up taking the sandwiches to go, and had a picnic at the park. Taste sandwiches transport well, and the bag they put the sandwiches in feels like a gift bag. Bougie and delightful–I feel like I’m opening a new pair of shoes when I unwrap my sandwich. It’s an experience! Also, the employees at the Ghent location were very friendly today. There was a gentleman employee who was cracking jokes at my son’s antics while we were waiting on the order, and I appreciated his levity and humor. I didn’t order any laughs, but I got them on the house. Thanks!!

TASTE!!!! You did your biggest one on me tonight, so big that I almost drove back up there myself to kiss the chef oh so gently. The chicken pot pie soup is my absolute favorite, but sometimes the person who prepares it doesn’t let it simmer long enough, making the potatoes just a tad bit hard and a little under-seasoned. But tonight, the person who made that soup had to be someone who loves their job & must love me too! It was the best cup I’ve had since y’all added it to the menu a couple of years ago. I did the create your own salad, and I must say you guys are far from stingy when it comes to toppings—it was jammed frigging packed?!?!! Are you kidding me!! Wow, tens across the board… actually, come get your baddies chain when you get a chance!!! I love y’all!!
