This visit was different. We are a family of 4 but my son is 3 so it’s just 3 of us enjoying a meal. We arrived about 30 mins after opening time, there were 2 tables already there.
We started with the gyoza ( great no problem), japchae ( it was bland, it lack the usual good taste and the noodles were too cut down to about an inch each strand) and a salad ( usually this a a type of mixed greens but we got roughly cut cabbage with water down dressing). Occasionally they’ll let you know that they’re out of the salad mix or replacing it but we weren’t informed so it was a surprise ( I don’t really like raw cabbage either).
The meat was different too. We ordered the premium Wagyu which was way different than we’re used to and the taste was different too ( it kind of had an after taste) We also ordered the long bone and that was fine and best of entire meal. We had to ask for the side dishes since we weren’t offered them.
Overall this experience was not the best we’ve had at a Gen, definitely not what you expect for the price of the “premium” dinner ($50) each. Not sure we’ll return here the next time we visit the area.
Our server did the best he could with the hand he was dealt, but the manager? Absolutely useless. No effort, no ownership.
Now I truly understand why they’re sitting at a 3.5 rating. Honestly, I’d expect lower. Fool me once, shame on you. There won’t be a second time.
Service … well, we made a reservation and the hostess informed us it was still a 10 minute wait but we can wait at the bar. No big deal, except we waited 25 minutes at the bar because they thought we left.
Our waiter was AMAZING, I will give him a 5 out of 5. I wish I remembered his name, he helped us Saturday evening around 6pm. Tattoos on arms. We sat in a back booth. He was informative, answered questions, checked up on us at just the right amount of times.
Server who brought our drinks, I believe she was helping out, we asked her two times about a sauce and never came back to at least inform us we ran out. But our waiter helped us!!!
The music … oofff the music was SOOOO LOUD. It is more like a club atmosphere. At 7pm the music GETS LOUDER. I was waiting to hear bottle service music going off lol

The cuts were so bad my meat literally disintegrated and disappeared!! Not only that I was moved table 3 times, first time by the windows is COVERED IN FLIES i asked to be moved because thats disgusting, second time there was dried up meat on our burner amd instead of switching it I was moved, 3rd time waa because we were put somewhere where we shouldn’t have been? I guess not the assigned for the waiter
The food was bad it tasted weird I could taste the freezer and the cuts were cheap. Idk why this gen is so bad but I think I rather drive to somewhere better
