Our server was amazing. The charro beans were good enough to enjoy as a stand alone and the chicharrones came to the table still crackling. The fajita steak was a little tough, but had a great flavor as did the green sauce.

I’ve never been disappointed with the food or service. 2015 was the first visit to El Jalapeño and I have been there once a month ever since. The ladies serving make me and my daughters feel at home with each and every visit. Some of the reviews I read an as about this restaurant are simply not factual. I love the beef enchiladas and my daughter loves the chicken enchiladas. They are MUCH BETTER than Pappasitos IMHO. And they are cheaper well. Sopapillas are amazing as are the churros. I’m a log time fan of this place. I love it.

I was discriminated against and lied to because of the color of my skin. When I walked in, I was not acknowledged at all. I had to sit at the bar and ask for my drink. When I finally received it, it was wrong—I asked for a Tajín rim and got a salt rim instead. She then tried to “fix” it by throwing Tajín into the drink.
A white man walked in, and two employees immediately approached him and greeted him with a smile. They automatically brought him chips and salsa, while I had to ask for mine. I pointed this out, and they said, “Oh, he comes here every day, so we know what he likes. We’ve never seen you before.” I replied that this should not matter—everyone should receive the same service. Her coworker jumped in to defend her, saying, “He comes here every day. We treat everyone the same,” and then they both walked away.
I then said that I hadn’t even received a menu. They finally gave me one, but even though I was sitting alone at the bar, they never came back to take my order. I never even got the chance to order because they ignored me completely.
I commented, “You ignored me when I walked in, and now you’re not even asking what I’d like to order.” She responded, “You were on your phone and I didn’t want to disturb you.” Meanwhile, she continued bringing the white man next to me round after round, even though he was on his phone the entire time—and she had no problem interrupting him.
She then told me, “If you don’t like the service here, please leave and never come back.” I said, “Please do not speak to me like that. Are you the owner?” She said no. I asked the man next to me if he comes here often, and he said it was his first time and that he overheard everything. He apologized to me and said he was sorry I had to go through that.
I have attached images of the two employees who acted this way. Do not go here if you are a person of color. It is 2025, and this is how they behave? This is unacceptable. The one with the white streak on her hair was the one who told me to leave and never come back she had the worst attitude out of the two but I wasn’t able to get a good picture of her

There red salsa that is served with the chips is really good. The green salsa was perfectly spicy but the flavor just wasn’t there. I had the tacos campechanos with flour tortilla. The tortillas were half decent and the meat was ok but again there was something missing. The meat flavor was between bland and warmly spiced. The staff was very attentive and kind. I love the service here.

Used to go here almost every Sunday for breakfast after church for years. Only ate here once last year. Since restaurant name change, prices jumped up. The service was very good. Place not as busy as they used to be. Not sure when or if I go back again.

We liked this place before the change, now we love it. The food is so flavorful with good portions and prices, and the staff takes good care of us during our meals. My favorite dish is the Pollo Monterey.

Ordered fajita beef taco salad,the meat did not have much flavor and very tough..for a 16.00 salad it should have better quality beef..the amount was great.flavor and quality not great..I liked it better when it was El jalapeño

Horrible – barbacoa I swear had an eyeball in it, with tons of fat. The coffee was burnt, and probably should have been thrown out and made a new pot.
Eggs and potatoes were meh.
