Welcome to Pearly Cow, Brighton. We serve up the most indulgent cuts of meat and the freshest fish in gorgeous settings, where you’ll feel right at home. We source the best-of-the-best from nearby each; Yorkshire beef and Whitstable oysters for example. Pearly Cow Brighton’s doors opened in November 2024 and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. We let the ingredients do the talking, cooking simply over open-flame, or serving raw on ice. It’s elementary really. Pearly Cow is about treating yourself. It’s a break from the everyday. It’s the feeling of finding a pearl in an oyster shell. It’s a bit of magic. Oh, and our chips will change your life, and our soufflés are just something else too. Ready to tuck in?

Had dinner here last night, everything was exceptional from start to finish. The atmosphere is beautiful and upscale while also comforting. Service was prompt and consistently fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious and came out with perfect timing. We had a slight issue with our gift voucher which was sorted in less than 5 minutes.

Great team, great vibe and great food.

(Only note for management – the QR code on the monthly draw cards doesn’t work and goes to a dead link)

We loved the pearly cow the last time we went around 8 months ago everything was 5 stars the food the staff and the atmosphere all really amazing.

I think we might have just been unlucky this time. The cocktails oysters and dessert were beautiful. Unfortunately our steaks at £45 each were really chewy. All the sides were nice but the star of the show was not that nice. We mentioned it to the waitress and we were given a mocktail and a beer. Again very unfortunate for us there was a large loud table of 9 so we couldn’t hear each other at the table next to them. We decide to sit at the bar to finish our evening so we could hear and had an old fashion which was delicious. We had the fondant chocolate dessert which was incredible! Highly recommend it! I think one of my favourite desserts ever.

The staff were lovely, really attentive, but our bill had 5 drinks on that weren’t ours. Thankfully I checked before paying.

All in all a nice night but a little let down by the steak, loud table and bill error.

I really loved our first visit so I will try them again but will probably wait until summer.

What a beautiful and sophisticated place! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm, relaxed, and inviting — the perfect setting for a memorable meal. The food was absolutely delicious, with every dish prepared to a high standard and full of flavour. The service was also exceptionally good. A special thank-you to Rasa for looking after us so well ❤️ we are definitely coming back

We arrived at Pearly Cow in awe of the interiors and wine options. A beautiful space, gracious staff, and impressive menu. Sadly we missed the days fresh oysters but that was quickly out of our heads when the beef tartare arrived. Sunday Roast pork belly, olives, bread, and the mascarpone creme brûlée filled our souls. Daisy and Mary were exceptional at making a memorable experience during our honeymoon holiday in Brighton. We will definitely return!!

I was able to enjoy dinner at The Pearly Cow through a generous birthday gift voucher. Being such a sucker for “value for money”, I was unsure how I could rate this restaurant 5 stars, as the food prices are so high; however, it really was 5 stars! Everything was perfect. We shared the steak and lobster combo thing, and ordered the big fries, olives and tomato salad as extras. Honestly, it must’ve been the best steak I’ve ever had. Cooked perfectly! Even as it cooled down, it was as succulent as when it first arrived. Also, they surprised us with a thoughtful birthday truffle plate – such a nice touch! The staff were attentive and professional, and the decor intimiate and divine.

Basically, if you can afford a dinner for around £160 (for 2) then you should absolutely go!

£150 for two

If I haven’t already with these reviews, I’m almost certainly outing myself as a posh snob now by saying I’ve felt for ages Brighton seafront needs more places you can sit outside for a drink and maybe a little nibble by the sea, within earshot of the waves lapping against the pebbles but blissfully nothing of the increasingly ubiquitous ‘live entertainment’ also on offer. Don’t get me wrong, I love sitting topless on a picnic table puffing on an e-shisha drinking watered-down lager out of a plastic cup trying to work out how to put my name down for the karaoke only to realise “God, she’s actually getting paid for this” as much as the next person, but that can’t be all there is to life. Can it?

So when Mich and I found ourselves in need of rejuvenation after a first Primark trip in genuinely over a decade, preferring to chance our arm for a spot outside somewhere and so turning the corner at the bottom of Preston Street, I was like a kid outside a waterpark when I caught sight of the well-dressed chattering clientele seated at (not on) marbled-topped bistro tables out on the Terrace by Pearly Cow, in cast-iron garden chairs and benches made comfortable by tastefully-thematically-consistent-while-not-perfectly-matching Mediterranean-y soft furnishings, sheltered from the sun by the kind of hanging parasols you could only ever wistfully wish you could justify the price of for your own garden: “can we can we can we please please please!”

Like Primark was, the Terrace is sort of its own entirely discrete little world – like stepping into the wardrobe – only of course in a very different way: lavender troughs and Perspex panes at its border at once distinguishing itself from and lending a pleasant hue to the pavement outside and beyond. That the menu being described conceptually as “fire and ice” reminded me instantly of Pokémon on the Switch and just added to my relief/delight to be outside somewhere pleasant in the sunshine.

There were nibbles, oysters and tacos for just a little something to taste through to small plates and a lunch list and then fully-fledged main courses and huge sharers to feast on. I wanted it all. The olives were huge and juicy and drizzled with slithers of Lombardi green chillis – a nice touch – and the bread came out warm. The salted cod taco had more flavour than its lobster and fennel counterpart, and we were allowed to enjoy all of these at our own pace before returning to the menu for more. The long break suited us but not a neighbouring table who were getting increasingly visibly annoyed at their wait for their mains, indicative of a slight downturn in the quality of service to come.

I went for a fillet of John Dory from the specials with padron peppers and a green salsa advertised as spicy – it wasn’t, but the first few flakes of fish I ate before it went cold while I waited for the glass white wine I’d ordered, because that’s what you do with fish, were very good nonetheless. (I also didn’t realise vino verde is usually carbonated so had a sort of pineapple-juice-gone-off surprise at first sip – maybe not so posh after all.) Mich had a massive braised wagyu beef rib on a soup of mashed potato that she couldn’t finish despite the pause, so I ate that in the interim, deliciously tender at first, but fattier and more tendony the closer you got to the bone. The charcoaled parmesan broccoli was actually perhaps the pick of round two; along with the wine delay the salt I wanted for the peppers and my side of mega ‘chips’ (actually huge blocks of crispy layered potato with a nicely mustardy dip) never came.

That did little to diminish the whole experience: sitting outside by the sea, perusing a menu stacked full of exciting, enticing options and grazing leisurely on many of them (spending a fair bit of money in the process; Mich’s non-alcoholic options were more expensive than my boozy ones) was a perfect way to spend a few hours. As we walked back towards the pier past admittedly increasingly passable Adele impressions I felt pretty chuffed with our day’s decisions.

Could not fault the service – very attentive, informative and lovely staff. We had the scallop and croquette starter, which was to die for.

For our main, we ordered the côte de boeuf. The flavour was good, but the meat was fairly chewy. We had the same steak at the York restaurant and it was faultless, so we were a little disappointed with the texture this time around. The beef fat chips were good but lacked a bit of flavour. We also had a few cocktails, which were delicious.

I go to Pearly Cow in Brighton every month for networking, and although Rasa has only seen me a couple of times, she already remembered my name the second time I walked in – which really impressed me. She just seems to know exactly what we want before we even ask, and she makes the whole experience smooth and welcoming. It’s the little touches like that which make such a big difference. Rasa is a real credit to the Pearly Cow team, professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. Every visit has been amazing thanks to her.

Was taken here for a birthday treat, and what a treat it was. We went for a Sunday roast and it was excellent. Perfect roast potatoes, perfectly cooked meats, amazing sauces/gravies, superb cauliflower cheese, fantastic desserts, all topped off with great service. What more can I say? Thoroughly enjoyed and thoroughly recommend.
