Went for restaurant week and it was amazing. I will be going back to try their regular menu! The food was stellar and the service was good. If you can get a chance to go, take it! The ramen noodles are hand made and it shows. The broth was delicious and offered a lot of flavor. I made a reservation due to the nature of restaurant week so I can’t speak for how easy it is to get in on a normal night.

FINALLY a Japanese/ramen restaurant in Spokane that radiates authenticity and flavor. We had the golden gai ramen (amazing), the black pork and ube gyoza, the menchi burger, and the pumpkin mochi donuts. We also ordered a side of fresh baked sourdough bread for our ramen, and ordered some milk teas.

Everything was so fresh. The ramen was exceptional, and you could tell that the noodles were freshly made. The broth had a really amazing, complex flavor. The service was also fantastic.

Recommendation: Make a reservation before you go! We are so glad we did – tons of last-minute walk ups were lined up outside 30 minutes before they opened, and some didn’t get in. They let in people with reservations first.

Has potential but is still figuring out its identity as a restaurant. We’ve been in 3 times: for a pop-up, for dinner after they opened, and during Restaurant Week 2026.

The pop-up was great, and one of the best meals I’ve had out in the last year. Clear respect and appreciation for Japanese cuisine, while highlighting regional ingredients. The story behind the project was compelling. The smoked salmon onigiri was delicious, their take on milk punch was refreshing, and I was thinking about the tamago sando for days. The okonomiyaki was hearty, indulgent, and fresh all at the same time. The interest in feedback from diners at the end of the meal was cool. We were excited to see expansions to the menu based on that feedback. The chef is great at sourcing locally, and that helped the menu shine.

Second visit was good. The gyoza was the highlight for us and our favorite dish at Nekojita. The Dantanmen ramen was tasty. We got their chicken karaage, and pumpkin mochi donuts. These were decent, but felt like they were pulled from a former Hogwash menu. The breading on the chicken was heavier than expected for a karaage-style protein, and the remoulade made it feel out of place. We got the tamago sando again and it was still yummy, but not as balanced or structurally sound as the pop-up’s iteration. We were sad to not see onigiri on the menu.

For Restaurant Week, I was disappointed by how far away both the menu and quality were from the initial pop-up. We each got a cocktail and both were extremely sweet, and not very enjoyable. For food, I started with miso caesar. It was fine, but I would not have been able to identify it as having miso or black garlic if not listed. Beautiful greens and I would be happy to eat it with some pizza, but to me it didn’t feel cohesive with the menu. Had Golden Curry Rice for my second course. It was comforting and warm, but would benefit from more fresh herbs. Spouse got the korokke to start (great sweet potato flavor, but the goat cheese-wasabi-Alabama BBQ combo didn’t work for my tastes) and the Fooly Cooly Burger for the main, which was fine but tasted too similar to many of the burgers we’ve had at Hogwash in recent years. I had the matcha “Basque” cheesecake for dessert and had big feelings about it as a Basque-American. It was not identifiable as a Basque cheesecake, except for being crustless. It was not nearly burnished enough. I also wasn’t picking up on any matcha notes. Not every cheesecake needs to be nor can be a Basque cheesecake. This didn’t feel like a thoughtful addition to the menu. Partner got the mochi ice cream. The black sesame ice cream was alright and the kinako was super tasty, but it felt like there was too much going on with the dish. I understand that Restaurant Week is a tough format for restaurants, but I didn’t feel like the menu captured the best Nekojita has to offer. Perhaps it was an off night for them.

I hope that Nekojita pivots back to where they started and finds more ways to utilize local and regional ingredients in the menu. Tightening up the menu to make it more cohesive would be awesome.

This place is amazing! I made the reservation weeks in advance (I do recommend a reservation but I doubt it has to be that far out) and we had been looking forward to it the whole time. It did NOT disappoint.
We ordered a variety of things to split between the two of us which I also highly recommend because it was all amazing. The Pork & Ube gyoza were superb! The noodles in the ramen were PERFECT. Firm and chewy, which is my cup of tea. The pumpkin mochi donuts are out of this world. You get the theme here….
We sat at the bar top which was a really cool experience. You could see ALL the action. The highlight was definitely the staff. Everyone was so friendly which is refreshing nowadays. 20/10 service. So, all in all, my suggestion is RUN, don’t want! You’ll want to try this place.

Thanks for the great night! See you again next week

I lived in Japan for a year, and I’ve not so-secretly hoping to have a great ramen spot to go to in Spokane. This place really delivers. They serve delicious sake, the pork ube gyoza were incredible, and ramen is top notch.

Would love to see the green onions slivered finer in the future, and not as many of them. They detract from the incredible broth! Everything was fabulous.

Hands down the best Japanese food in Spokane!Recently visited Tokyo last November and I have found myself in a food depression returning back to the states. Well that depression has now been cured by the Doc there.

You must order the Ube Gyoza, Tamago Sando, Golden Gai (Warning Pork Belly melts in your mouth) and finish the night off with the pumpkin mochi donuts even when you think you don’t have anymore room. Trust me, you do.

The service is world class and everyone there is so attentive to the guests. Sasha and Doc were phenomenal!

This was our second weekend in a row eating here and we are already looking forward to our next visit.

Waited two months to come here on my birthday, and it did not disappoint! From the atmosphere to the food, my wife and I loved this place! I’m not much of a drinker, but we both ordered cocktails. She got the Neko Cha Cha and I got the Milk Punch, both were insanely delicious. I am a big ramen fan, and loooved the broth for both the ramens we ordered! PNW Mushroom and Dantanmen. Very filling and flavorful. We already know we will be coming back again, really looking forward to trying the other food!!
