Definitely a mixed experience.
The food was superb, (I had the chicken sandwich), the atmosphere is dated but charming. Portions are perfect.
There are a few problems, though.
The service was friendly, but that’s about it. I would have preferred them to come around to ask for refills and such (especially considering the restaurant was almost empty), but they opted to sit at a table and chat over their own drinks.
Cash or check only- there’s an ATM inside, so it’s not terrible, but the fee is still unexpected and mildly annoying.
The prices seem a bit high, but I’d likely pay again were I in the area.

Now Barbe-Queen, there are about 10 tables (5 – 4 tops and 5 – 2 tops) in this quaint restaurant that changed owners summer of 2021. Menu is still undergoing changes so I asked waitstaff and ordered the Polynesian Monroe plate. Hawaiian BBQ sauced chicken thigh was excellent and I’m glad I tried it instead of larger Loco Moco. Don’t be in a rush as you take in small town life. I look forward to seeing updates to décor and exterior that matches the island vibe.

Great service, quality food, friendly staff. We had fantastic breakfast, and are looking to going back for some BBQ for dinner one of these days.

We just stopped in for I’ve cream. We asked for a double on waffle cone. By the time she finished piling it on, it was closer to five scoops. Still charged for a double. It was a quaint little place. Well kept. Glad we stopped.

Was served still frozen chicken.
DO NOT EAT HERE
Multiple health infractions from mold to a dirty kitchen to food prep procedures.
Overpriced for tiny portions not that it matters after your sick!!!

The halibut and chips was pretty good. The halibut had a very light and crispy crust on it, just how I like it. It was tasty, though slightly on the dry side. The tartar sauce was very good as well. I am not a huge fan of the very tiny fries, though they tasted fine. I am just more of a steak fry kinda guy. I didn’t touch the coleslaw as it is not something I like.
Service was friendly and it seems like the kind of place where the people are very close knit with a lot of family and regulars. The staff seemed quite friendly as well. I would come back to try some other stuff for sure.
My biggest complaint has to be the fact that they only take checks or cash. Or you can pay $2.25 to use their ATM. That in itself may keep me from coming back, as I rarely keep cash on me and don’t like paying ATM fees needlessly.

I was extremely surprised by how nice and how much I enjoyed my visit. It’s not big, it’s not glitzy, but it’s hometown cooking. Not a bad selection on the menu, they had ice cream, malts, milkshakes and more. Seafood, burgers, and more. Staff were nice. Best fried calamari I’ve had! Will be coming again next trip

It is a small place in what I would consider to be a “greasy spoon” and I mean that in the best possible way. Had the bacon cheese burger. Great burger! One you need plenty of napkins for, and the shoe string fries were really hot and very tasty. The wife had their halibut and was very happy with the dish. No complaints about our visit!

A nice, small place for breakfast fare. There are lunch and dinner items, but we were there specifically for breakfast. The food was decent and the portions were a good size for the price. It was a little busy when we arrived, and there was only one server. But she did a great job in making sure everyone in the restaurant was taken care of. She was very kind and had a great attitude.

Bit of a wait but they had just got slammed before we got there. Everything was really tasty and the staff were super friendly.
