Hey everyone, I’m a wind turbine technician from Texas. I travel a lot for work and have eaten at plenty of places across the country, but Smokin’ Jay’s in Central City, South Dakota, has become my new go-to stop. The food is delicious, the customer service is excellent, and together it makes the perfect three-in-one experience. I was in Deadwood for two nights and my daughter and I ate here twice, once for lunch and then for dinner. She had the wings and thought they were the best she ever had. I ordered the nachos with brisket that was yummy. For dinner had the ribs, beans and cole slaw and all were very tasty. The portions size is good and prices are reasonable. Plus, the service was excellent. Highly recommend this establishment.

Under new management. As a place to eat, not as good as it used to be. $19 for a plain bun with a pile of shredded brisket and a side. $18 for subpar macaroni with brisket just heaped on top in a small paper bowl. Food was slow to come out. Party of 8, first people served were done eating by the time the last plates were brought out. It was not a busy day.

Absolutely hands down the best place we have stopped since we have been here for Sturgis. We will be making this a regular stop once a year. We got the ribs and winds and it was absolutely delicious!! Highly recommend!!

So I picked up Smokin Jays at the advice of a co worker. I’m pretty picky on what I like from a BBQ joint, so I went with the 1 meat and 2 sides combo. Brisket, beans and mac and Cheese.
And… MY GOD was it great. The beans were out of this world and reminded me of Puerto Rican beans. Mac was phenomenal and a little spicy. Just the way I like it.
But the Brisket was EVEN better. Full of flavors that tickle my tongue.
Some picketed onions and pickled Jalepenos were the perfect garnish with every bite.
Tray was complete.
Stomach full.
The only question is, how soon can I go back for more?
