I tried Spicy Basil with tofu. It was loaded with perfectly fried tofu and the sauce was a delicious blend of chilies, garlic, and basil. My friends got Pad Thai which looked great (I’ll try that next time) and she was pleased with it also. My other friend got a special, some kind of pork belly and quail egg stew/soup. It looked fantastic and he took the leftovers home so he could savor it one more time.
The spring rolls were huge. I prefer smaller ones as an appetizer not just a monster filled with rice noodles. Still, they were good. As a person sensitive to food additives I can say this place is safe! I didn’t feel like any of the food was using any kind of nasty preservative or anything artificial. The first experience was very good so we all said we would come back with family or friends at some point in the future. See you soon!
Mango sticky rice is phenomenal!!
We drive an hour to eat here and it’s always worth it!!
For me, they were amazing with just one issue – The protein quantity in dishes could definitely improve.
Started off with the Tom Yum soup , chose the protein as Shrimp – Excellent but the soup had 2 small shrimps. The broth of the soup was one of the best.
The egg rolls were delicious, crunchy and flavourful. No one does it better than them in Fox Valley for me.
Pad Kee Mao – Yummy rice noodles with chicken. Ordered this as Spicy but still needed additional chilli oil as the spice was sub par for me.
– Mango Sticky Rice – Unfortunately the least favourite part of the evening, I was trying this dish for the first time and didn’t like it. Not a restaurant specific, I feel this isnt my cup of tea. Ate the magoes off it
Overall, Basil Cafe as always scores high on ambiance and service along with good food. — eating dinner at Basil Café.
