What a great little find in Chehalis! This delightful little restaurant kind of snuck up on me. There is nothing fancy about the building, but the food I ordered was delicious. I decided on their South Pacific Platter in the appetizer portion of the menu. I got two chicken satay’s, 2 fried prawn, 3 spring rolls and some bbq pork. I also requested a cup of egg flower soup. Everything was delicious. The pork was tender and moist, the prawns were perfectly fried and not heavy. The best surprise was the egg flower soup. I was a bit cautious, cause it didn’t look like there was a lot of egg in it, and there were small vermicelli noodles in it. I have never had egg flower with noodles. But let me tell you, the flavor was sublime. Such flavorful broth! Definitely the star of my order.
I look forward to trying some of their main dishes next time I find myself in Chehalis. Don’t pass by this little gem. Your tummy will thank you.
Very sweet staff, too.

A great find! Outside doesn’t give a hint about the treats to come. The food is fantastic. It’s home-made instead of the normal canned food you get from most American/Chinese places. Everything on the menu is great but my favorite is the coconut prawns. Not your normal deep fried. They are perfectly simmered in a flavorful coconut sauce. Make sure to let them know if you have a special dietary need. They will alter a recipe or let you know if they can’t.
Very casual & easy going. Everyone there is friendly. Most of the customers are regulars. If it isn’t busy the owners will sit & visit with you while you have your meal.

I have lived in LC for years and never tried this little restaurant, I was in the area today so decided why not. I REALLY wanted to like it. I ordered the chicken pad thai and Thai iced tea. My bill came to $22 plus tip
the pad Thai was.. meh. it was definitely NOT traditional pad thai… it had some sort of weird tomato base and the rice noodles were not cooked long enough. The thai iced tea was good however they filled it to the top with ice (no refills)
the worker was a nice lady, however, when I arrived at 1pm I got the impression i was interrupting their lunch and they rapid fired some sort of asian language at eachother for a few beats and then she did finally talk to me.
overall it was fine. nice people and OK food but not great….but i dont think i will return for that price.

Decided to try this place as I drive by it every week. The restaurant was at 20% capacity when I walked in. This looks like a converted home. It took a couple of minutes to get recognized and be seated. The menus were on the table, and I decided on the Mongolian beef, fried rice, and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was brought immediately. It was neither hot nor sour. It was disappointingly sweet but had the correct vegetables. The main course was brought a few minutes later by the cook. The fried rice was not fried, it was white rice mixed with vegetables and formed with a bowl. The rice had no flavor, which was disappointing also. The Mongolian beef was average. Pricing is at market. Ventilation grills need cleaning. The bathroom sink is coming off the wall. The front end of the restaurant needs to be organized and neatened. The server was preoccupied and never came to my table to check on the dinner.

I don’t like to give negative reviews but people need to be aware. We wanted to like this place cuz it’s in an eclectic house and looks interesting. BUT… beware of the food – bad.

Pho: Worst pho we’ve ever had. They brought us old bean sprouts so we lost our appetite before our first bite – couldn’t put bean sprouts in the pho. Then we tasted the soup… what is this flavor? We eat a lot of pho… this one? Tasted like oil and water – no flavor. They gave us hoisin sauce which just made it taste like hoisin sauce. The chicken breast chunks were too big and slimy. The noodles were overcooked. I don’t think they should be serving pho.

Others: Singapore noodles had huge chunks of flavorless chicken breast. Tasted like oil and light curry sauce only – menu said spicy but it was not spicy in the least. Flavorless and oily. I had to add Sriracha but then it just tasted like Sriracha.
Salad rolls: not bad – wrapped a little thick so had a food court feel but the flavor was good and they seemed fresh.

Overall we ate less than half of the food before we were not feeling well because we had just spent $45 for bad food.

If you live around there please encourage the owners to invest in some menu and cooking help.

I just moved into town and have been trying places around. This is one of the worst asian restaurants I’ve ever been to. The fried rice was so awful, I feel like I would have to throw it in my wok at home to fix it.

They were friendly inside, but everything we ordered was the worst example of it I’ve ever had. Portions and price were exactly what I expected but the food was a huge disappointment. We ordered pad thai, general tso, ho fon, and fried rice and honestly I don’t think any of it was good enough to order again. I’m convinced that all the good reviews are from people who have never left this town, because growing up in NY, living everywhere from Biloxi MS, to St Louis, to Chehalis, I didn’t know you could even mess up Chinese food this bad.

July 2023 – It’s been a while since I was at South Pacific Bistro, and appears to be the same staff as last time I was here, so I don’t know what has changed, but it’s changed. I couldn’t help but notice that the quantity of food on the plates varied for each person in the restaurant, not just at our table. I also noted that silverware and glasses being uses are getting very stained to the point of questioning whether or not they are clean in the beginning. Does make me wonder the last time the health department performed an inspection. The quality/flavor of the food was very poor compared to previous visits. And the overall service, unless you are friends of the employees or a group of six or more, do not plan on staff caring if you are ready to order, need a refill, have a question, or anything. You do not exist to them. This used to be a favorite spot for some good food, but with this being the new food and service style, I will not go again, nor will I recommend to anyone ever again.

South Pacific Bistro, blink and you’ve missed it, and missed out on some good food.

They are located just a couple minutes off of I-5 (maybe 0.5 miles, so easy if you’re traveling) and looks almost like a house on the side street with a bunch of windows. But once inside it’s what you’d expect for a small diner if you will. About the only thing you won’t find here that you might elsewhere is a soda dispenser. If you want pop, you’ll be served 12oz cans.

This was my third visit, and I ordered the General Tso Chicken with fried rice. Overall the food was great as always, though I think the chicken and sauce could have been a bit spicier, the prices were fair, and service was good.

If you’re in the area, looking for a good hot meal, or traveling and want something close to the freeway, it’s worth stopping in if you’re in the mood for Chinese food and don’t want to feel like you just pulled into downtown.

Good Asian food location (only one I found in the area). Popular with locals and inexpensive. Could have a long wait.
