The really big thing that stands out to me about Monty’s is the service. The owner, Donna, works at the front desk and takes every customer to their seats and actually makes a point to remember people who visit the restaurant more than once. She’ll also stop by the table every now and then while you’re eating just to make sure that everything is going well.

One of the other waiters knows our family by name (we’ve only been a couple of times) and comes over to talk to us every time we visit.

I’ll also say that when someone in our party asked if they had blue cheese stuffed olives, the waiter responded that they didn’t, but that he would go back into the kitchen and make a couple specially for him. That’s pretty cool.

The atmosphere of Monty’s is great. It’s a pretty small space, but there’s usually not a whole lot of people inside. So you don’t feel cramped and you can typically have conversations pretty easily, but don’t feel like you’re speaking to the entire restaurant.

The food itself is great. Expensive…no doubt…but great. I ordered a T-bone and got a Caesar side salad to start. Both were wonderful. The steak was perfectly cooked to order, ENORMOUS, and absolutely delicious. You definitely get your money’s worth.

Overall, this place is phenomenal and would definitely recommend for a unique, fun date night location.

My husband and I tried Monty’s for the first time on New Year’s Eve. I was skeptical at first because of the hole in the walk location. We didn’t have a reservation but the owner was incredibly nice and found room for us. Our service was great. The atmosphere is clean, simplistic with some modern touches. I ordered a crab cake appetizer (it was delicious with big pieces of lump crab) and then my husband and I split the dry aged cowboy steak. I’ve eaten a lot of steak- Mike’s American, Firebirds, Outback, All American Steakhouse and hands down- this was the best steak I’ve ever eaten! It was perfectly cooked and so tender. It was a great way to spend our Anniversary! Will we definitely be coming back! -Caolan

My wife (Jane) and I just had a wonderful dinner at Monty’s Steakhouse. Contrary to the past reviews, we had outstanding service and delicious dinner. Ricardo, our server, was awesome and very attentive to servicing our table. Never had to ask for water. He was on top of things, always refilling our water and replenishing our wine glasses. Highly recommended. Hope the welcoming atmosphere and outstanding service continues.

I’ve been here several times with my family & have always had a wonderful time. Dinner always last for a couple of hours as we go out to relax, catch up & enjoy each others company over a delicious meal. The staff never rushes us & is always courteous.
The oysters on the half shell are my favorite appetizer & the brussel sprouts with bacon are amazing! I’m so glad this Monty’s is here, this area needed something with more substance than the standard chains.

I have dined there twice. The first time they had a very large party and were under staffed. The service was bad, we had to choose 3 different wines until we got one that was actually in the restaurant and then it wasn’t brought to our table until we were near the end of our meal. The food was good, creative, but cold due to slow service or slow kitchen. I like the idea of an upscale local restaurant, so we gave it another try. It was still expensive, still bad service, and our food was served cold again. I won’t go back.

Great food horrible service. Just got home and My wife and I will not go there again unless they do something about the service. I wanted to try a local steak place that wasn’t a chain for my birthday and I found this place that has good reviews but that was a mistake.

Took 20 minutes to get our water cups filled and not by the waiter. Waiter came thirty minutes. We asked for a drink menu that we never got when we were seated.

We ordered a club soda, an alcoholic drink and an appetizer. 18 minutes passed and the waiter advised that the bar was busy. About 7 minutes later I got my drink, I had to reorder my wife’s club soda. We got the drinks and order entries. We never got our appetizer.

When we got our food we ordered, my wife’s order was wrong. Steak wasn’t cooked how I ordered.

It was the worst service I have ever experience, food was good but not make up for the service.

We’ve been here a few times, largely because it’s our local steakhouse. Each time, we have come to expect less and less of the extremely slow service. The food is tasty, and the atmosphere is quite pleasant, but it doesn’t warrant the extravagant prices.
Tonight when we walked in, The Host, who I believe is also the owner, went to pick up the phone and proceeded to take a reservation while we were standing directly in front of her. Once we had sat down, it took a full 20 minutes before our server had taken our drink orders, and even longer before we had placed our dinner orders.
If you live right nearby and just want something close, then Monty’s will do it. However if you are expecting great service or good value, you may want to go somewhere else.

It’s so nice to have an upscale yet affordable steakhouse in West Springfield. I found the serving staff are always willing to please as well as the management staff. We have been there several times since the opening and haven’t been disappointed at all. The food is delicious and affordable. The decor is simple and warm. I highly recommend Monty’s!

In full disclosure, I scoped this place out on Tuesday evening after work to see what the vibe was like, I HATE PICKING RESTAURANTS BASED OFF THEIR REVIEWS ALONE, if you want to try it, GO TRY IT!!
I’ve lived in Springfield for all of 5 minutes and this is neighborhood favorite that I can’t wait to visit again. I’ll bet that you want to know why now! The management treats you like family and not like a piece of meat. To be honest I skipped lunch, so I ordered two deserts( yes I’m worried about my waist line too) . The Mud bomb is a must!! I grew up in the restaurant industry and have high expectations for wait staff. Tony is hand picked my 3 course meal and I didnt spend any brain power looking at the menu and he had 5 others tables to deal with, dude didn’t miss a beat, A+!
Bathrooms were clean and loved the butter with the sea bass – my only complaint is that asparagus was chewy. That way you can believe the management didn’t write this cause I did complain about something! I would recommend for Date Night, celebratory dinner, AND CATERING!
