You know you want swedish meatballs right now. Here’s what they look like. If you’re here now, you could be eating them.
And during the winter holidays, you can do the smorgasbord where you get a desert buffet too. Seems to be a limited time event¡
The dill mashed taters are amazing btw.

My wife and I went to IKEA to look around and ended up spending three and a half hours and $400. I picked up a nice adjustable desk/ stand and a four (4) tier shelving unit. After the small adventure my wife and I headed straight for the Restaurant to grab lunch and both of us ended up getting Swedish Meatballs with mashed Potatoes w/ Gravy and Peas, along with a couple of flavored sparkling waters. Had a great time going and we’re definitely going back again!.

Monday play date for the kids. The drive is worth the very popular meatball and mac & cheese lunch. They love the Linberry the peas and the gravy. Then they have a play area where they learn to share. Meanwhile we can observe and drink our hot $1.50 coffee. It’s a great gift to parents with kids at home who are on a budget.

The food is flavorful, but the portions are small. I was particularly disappointed to see the restaurant has switched to disposable dishware, which was not the case previously. Tables are not cleaned promptly or frequently enough. Overall, the prices feel unjustifiably high given the portion sizes and service level.

Good furniture is not the only thing which IKEA offers. Their food is quite delicious. The chicken tenders are good. Try their garlic bread as well. Worth mentioning is the chocolate cake. It was so sumptuous and surprisingly was low on calories.
Their USP are those lip-smacking hot dogs. I never thought I would say this but their veg dog is actually better than the hot dog. Do try the vanilla swirl as well.
The only drawback is that there are very few vegan options. But that is true in general everywhere in the USA. Who cares..We eat meat 🙂
IKEA shopping spree is always incomplete without having food here.

I love dining at the IKEA Restaurant in Renton! The Swedish meatballs are a must-try, and the salmon filet with pesto sauce is delicious. The restaurant is conveniently located on the second floor, making it easy to grab a bite while shopping. The staff is friendly, and the seating area is spacious with plenty of options for families. Highly recommend stopping by for a meal!

We stood in line witha 4yr old and an 18mths old for about 20 minutes (they had just one person serving, but that not the issue). After finally making to the order counter come to find out they are out of chicken tenders, out of fries, out of peas for the salmon filet meal, out of mashed potatoes…. So, naturally kids start crying because 1 they had to stand in line in anticipation of, and then find out that they are out. No alert no warning nothing just “sorry”. We’ll what good does it do for having wasted 20 minutes of our time w/hungry children and now have to deal with them crying, where it could have been easily solved by idk – putting up a handwritten sign or something that says we are out of -…..? How hard can that be??? Very dissatisfied and disappointing particularly in a store that supposed to prioritize efficiency and expediency. They also try to say that they “just ran out” Like seriously- you just ran out of half the menu items??? Told the cashier about it, she said oh I just found out. Like they are all acting as if this is the first time it happened, im sure that this is not the first time this happened- put some sort of system in place to notify potential customers of things you are out of, so they are not wasting their time in line. I can think of at least 5 different ways of doing that in less than 5 minutes. If I can do that – im sure Ikea should be able to, unless they just really dont care about their clients.

The IKEA restaurant has, like the IKEA Swedish store, steadily declined in quality and offerings over the years. They still have Swedish meatballs and smoked salmon but most other Swedish offerings like Prinsesstårta (a Swedish cake filled with raspberries, pastry cream and whip cream and then covered in marzipan) and Skagen toast (Swedish open-faced shrimp sandwiches) are gone. As for the famous IKEA meatballs: they are not that authentic. They should have been pan fried and are missing the allspice. If you are looking for authentic Swedish meatballs they can be found at the Swedish Club in Seattle and at Broder in Portland. Prinsesstårta and other Swedish baked goods can be found at Byen Bakeri in Seattle.

I found the idea of this restaurant to fascinate me given its location within IKEA. Both lines were spread out into the seating area and had a long wait of ~25 minutes when I came in on a weekend. With that, the dining area was mostly full, tables were clean. I had the Swedish meatballs plate and a Salmon filet with pesto sauce on the side for under $20. The staff were polite and kind from the serving line to checkout. The meatballs were good, peas and mashed potatoes tasted the same as anywhere else. The lingonberry jam was rather sweet, no tart taste. The salmon filet was excellently prepared. I will certainly come back to dine in at a less busy time. Thank you for your business.
