We stopped by this Mexican restaurant and were pleasantly surprised! It’s got a cozy, no-fuss vibe — regular tables and chairs in the front, two big TV screens playing soccer, and Virgin Mary altar and family ancestors surrounded by offerings. It gives the place a soulful, local touch.
The food was excellent — classic Mexican diner fare, but definitely on the better end of the spectrum. The menudo was rich and comforting, and the goat barbacoa soup was tender and flavorful. Both the red and black mole were really well done — deep, balanced, and not too sweet.
Dessert was a standout: a personal-sized flan with a neat little hole in the center and just the right amount of syrup. Smooth, creamy, and perfectly portioned.
If you’re craving good, home-style Mexican food without the upscale prices, this spot absolutely delivers. If I wanted something a little fancier, I’d probably go to the place that took over El Nepal near National and Motor, but for solid, satisfying comfort food — I’d come back here in a heartbeat.

It’s the westside, so you already. Burrito oaxaqueño Togo. Nice size burrito but felt like it was mostly rice, & lettuce. The steak did not the typical volume of Oaxaca flavor, the last few bites of steak had some unique flavor. Otherwise the salsa verde was the only flavor on the dish. They included tortilla chips in the Togo bag, thank you! Will try again some time.

I’ve been coming here for over 10 years and to be honest this is the restaurant that secured my spot in this neighborhood.
I was thinking about buying in the neighborhood and I decided I wanted to take a walk around the neighborhood to fell it out a little bit before I bought as I was in between New York and LA a lot. So I was missing that New York vibe. I walked into this quaint family owned gem of a Oaxaca restaurant and was blown away. Kind cordial and out of the pocket service. Every meal on this menu will leave you wanting more. Make sure you try the fresh meat, salsa, and order an off the menu juice! My favorite meal here are the chicken enchiladas with the red sauce with the rice and beans!

100% best customer service, great hospitality & accommodated our larger group of 8, authentic mole & tortillas de maiz, all home-made dishes–no shortcuts with beans, rice, salsa–so authentic, house tortilla chips thin & crunchy, restroom very clean, decor simple and true to Oaxacan & Hispanic culture. Our group had enchiladas mole negro y mole coloradito, nolapes, queso fundido, menudo, camarones con ajo, horchata con tuna-fruit AND we were served little candies with our check. This little ‘hole in the wall’ is anything but… Stopped for dinner on way home to OC & will definitely be coming back. If you’re visiting Getty Villa, save your appetite & enjoy the warm Oaxacan hospitality here!

Go here if you want good quality authentic food. I went with my family, we ordered the nopal salad, taquitos en Coloradito, the burrito, and the chiles rellenos. Everything was amazing, authentic flavor with a kick of spice.

I stopped by this little Oaxacan restaurant to grab breakfast. The plate I got was delicious. But I would have liked the red chilaquiles instead of green. Next time I will try the mole negro. Service was average good.

Wow. Wow. Wow So authentic. The mole is so so good and authentic. The plates look very good. The plates are not huge and exaggerating with food, but just right. I rather go for quality than quantity. The place is not big so small groups more convenient. Out part was 10. Prices are reasonable. For sure again.
