I ordered the okra stew hoping for a warm, comforting dish. What I received instead was a bowl of bitter betrayal.
The stew arrived looking like it had lost a fight with a blender and some expired vegetables. The broth was bland, somehow both watery and greasy, and had the unfortunate aftertaste of regret and overcooked onions.
The seasoning, if it existed, was gone! I kept waiting for something — anything — to redeem the dish. A spark of flavor, a hint of spice, a glimmer of effort. Nothing came.
By the third bite, I gave up. Not even hunger could justify continuing.
If you’re considering the okra stew: don’t. Save yourself. Eat literally anything else. Lick a rock. Chew a napkin. Just… not this.

Absolutely love their food!! I originally saw this young man on Fox 29 during African Food week. We were in the area and took my picky eater grandsons here and met this man who was very patient with our ordering. We got the Egusi soup, potato collard with chicken soup, Jollof rice with plantain, and fried chicken and Jollof rice. None of us had Liberian food before. We loved it…all. We have enough for leftovers. Shared it with the family at home and they loved it too. Highly recommend. Also while we ate there, many take door dash type orders were coming in and going out. I only gave four stars for Service because there were some dishes that were not available.

We reheated the fufu by putting tbsp of water in it and heating in microwave at 15 sec then stirring then another 15 sec and so on until desired temp and consistency. No problem, still tasty with leftovers.

My nephew was craving fufu and egusi soup and after a quick search on Google maps and a call to the restaurant (no menu was available in maps), we made our way to Food Geez. Street parking is available, and there are residential streets nearby.

The restaurant clearly used to be a bar in the 90s, but has been updated with booth and bar seating.

The young man taking our order was new, so it took a little long to confirm our order and pay, but as a former foodservice employee, I know that he just needs more practice. We originally ordered our food to go, but decided to eat in.

Food took a minute to come out, but when it did it was piping hot and so delicious. They let you choose your spice adventure, as each plate has a container of pepper sauce on it. Food was delicious and leftovers were demolished the next day. Will definitely be back for a to go order.

Stopped in here the other day on our way back to DC and was pleasantly surprised! The food was good overall. I had cassava, and the customer service was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. Would definitely stop by again!

I came here for the first time Thursday after I viewed a few of the photo and saw they use palm oil! The Cassava Leafs are very delicious ! I love the red sauce it is delicious and a great addition for just enough spiciness without changing the flavor of the food. The side of goat is packed with flavor, my only critic it that it was too tough, so I baked it for an hour once I got home and it was perfect. I will be back went ever I’m in the area.

I’ve been to this restaurant maybe 5 times within the last year. Twice I sat inside. And the others were take out. This place is hit or miss. When it’s good it’s great but when it’s bad it’s awful. The customer service isn’t the best either. But I tried to support a black small business regardless. They are very unwelcoming when you go. A few times they got my order wrong and gave me a hard time about it. I ask for Spicy food. They give mild. I ask for pepper sauce and willing to pay for it. They charge you $1 for the tiniest sample of pepper sauce. I’m disappointed because I’ve had a couple great meals from here. But I’ll never go back again. It’s not consistent enough

The service was good but the atmosphere was a little low quality in a sketchy neighborhood. But if I can give the food negative stars I would! Let’s start with the food!

BECAUSE THIS FOOD WAS DISGUSTING
THE MEAT IN THE EGUSI WAS HARD AND UNDERCOOKED, THE FOOD WAS RANK, OLD & SMELLED HORRIBLY! I HAD TO THROW EVERYTHING OUT! IT WAS THAT BAD AND I DON’T WASTE FOOD! I’VE NEVER SMELLED FOOD LIKE THAT!! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST! LOW QUALITY AND RUSHED FOOD! THE PLANTAINS TASTED REFRIED, AND WAS OLD (like how can you mess plantains! And you can tell from the pic). THE RICE WAS HARD AND BURNED (you can see in the brown grains of rice). I CAN’T BELIEVE THEY HAD GOOD REVIEWS. WHO IS PAYING THESE PEOPLE. BECAUSE I GOT SICK AFTER ONE BITE! AND I GOT AN IRON STOMACH SO THAT SAYS ALOT!! $50 DOWN THE DRAIN! I WILL NEVER RETURN!

At the end of the day I found this place on instagram. Maybe it was good then but it’s definitely not good now! This place has changed location based upon instagram. And with a change of location there’s a high chance of change of quality of food. The spot was empty which was another red flag! All good places have a full crowd! Eat at your own risk! But as for me, I won’t give this place another try! At the end of the day, the food was old and prepared questionable. I have taste buds and this food was overrated and overpriced!

I traveled the world and ate all over so I know good food when I tase it! And this was not it!! -0/10

The day we went they had a large party with minimal help. The wait time was long and receiving our food was even longer. The waitress that was there she was pleasant but I thought she spent a little bit too much time with the party that had over 11 people.

Food was different but good the wings were a little rip off because they were wing dings and not actual wings. But the flavoring of their food is very good. I thought it was a little bit unorganized. I’m not sure if it was because it was a Sunday and they didn’t expect to have a large party of people, IDN. They also charge for water which I thought was a little ridiculous $2 for a little bottle of water next time I bring my own. I can’t say this place was bad or good it was just a different place that we decided to try.
