They were rude to me and my girlfriend. We order food and drinks and the girl waiter was rude when I asked for noodles she was like no and walked away with no explanation. When we got are salad and soup there was a hair in my girlfriend salad and the but tried to say there was no hair and digged in her salad trying to find the hair and said it was not there then picked up the hair to act like nothing happend. When we told them what was wrong and we wanted to leave they were rude about it and rushed us while we were getting are stuff they were cleaning up and so new people could come in.

Worst sushi experience ive ever had. Fish was not fresh. The trail of the shrimp was black. They served me imitation crab meat on rice as one of my “chefs choice” nigiri.
To top off a horrible experience when they brought me the bill what was labeled as a $20 lunch meal on the menu was billed as $37 dollars (including a mandatory $7 service fee despite the fact I was eating alone). After “correcting” the error tbe price was $27. When I expressed my dissatisfaction to the owner he just glared at me.
Overall the restaurant was dark and kind of dirty. Menus were stained and sticky. You would be better of getting freah sushi from the grocery store and paying 75% less. If you must eat here just factor in an additional 18% to everything you order because its getting add on your bill at the end.

Service was quick and friendly, however I had a shrimp nigiri that tasted rancid which I had to spit out, and the rest of the meal left me with pretty extreme stomach cramps and bathroom problems. My boyfriend said his meal wasn’t great either, but he did not have the same stomach issues I did. We will not be returning unfortunately

My wife and I LOVE Japan Samurai! The owners are amazing, the food is fantastic, service is fast, and the ambiance is nice and cozy. We have tried every hibachi restaurant in the Hampton Roads area and this one is by far our favorite! You won’t regret coming here!

The food was really good and I had the hibachi steak and veggies and fried rice. The decor is old so don’t go if you’re trying to have a fancy date. They had amazing service and the chef did an awesome job! The downside is they don’t have noodles. At least that’s what the lady told me who took the order, that since they bought it a year ago they don’t have noodles, so that was disappointing bc noodles are my favorite part of the dish and their menus say they have noodles. They also dont have clear soup, just the miso and their vegetables are lame. Just cabbage and a few slices of carrots and that’s it. No zucchini no squash no mushrooms, they actually don’t have mushrooms there he said so I’m not sure but what food we did get was pretty good. I’d go back if someone asked me to go there but I wouldn’t go there on my own accord, but again just bc some of my favorite stuff they don’t seem to serve. We did go on a Wednesday morning when they first opened up for the day.

Food is delicious without a doubt, the only thing that caught my husband and I off guard was the automatic 18% gratuity. I understand for parties of 6 or more but for two people is outrageous! The chef we had was amazing and I wish we had tipped him cash before knowing about the gratuity. Our mistake for not catching it, of course, so putting this here to alert other potential customers in case they miss it on the menu too.

It didn’t seem inviting at all. They didn’t have noodles, they said it’s been a year,but noodles were on the menu. The food itself was pretty good but lacked flavor/sauce. They didn’t have clear soup, the meal came with miso soup. One of the people in our group had a hair in the last piece of sushi they ate. Service was good, especially the chef. Gratuity is already added!
