I recently ordered a pizza and a few other items through the Domino’s app for pickup. Upon arriving at the store, I retrieved my pizza and other items, and drove home. Upon returning home, I took a bite of the pizza and discovered that it contained uncooked dough.
I contacted Domino’s, and the manager (who I believe was not the actual manager based on the fact that when I went back there, there was no manager who was a women there, as when I called the women I spoke to told me she was the manager! And when I got there, the only two managers there, were men.) informed me that I would need to return to the store with the pizza to receive a refund.
I drove back to the store, which took approximately 25 minutes one way, only to be informed that Domino’s does not offer refunds for uncooked pizza. (Confused me, as when I got there to begin with, and told the manager who came to help me, that I was told I had to come in to get a refund for the uncooked pizza, who looked at the pizza himself, was baffled at first that I was told I had to come all the way back in to get a refund, but then later said, they don’t do refunds).
I was definitely perplexed by this decision, as I had wasted 25 minutes driving to the store and would have to waste another 25 minutes driving back home, due to this error. The manager (who I believe was the actual manager this time) called over his manager. That manager informed me that the pizza I had was cooked properly and in my opinion, implied that it was my fault. I was advised that if I desire the dough to be cooked more thoroughly, I should specify “well done” when ordering the pizza.
Domino’s did provide me with a new pizza, which was properly cooked. I eat pizza quite frequently, particularly recently, as I have developed a craving for it. Additionally, pizza is a staple food in our lives, and I have never encountered uncooked dough in a pizza before, to this degree. I am well aware of the distinction between cooked and uncooked dough.
Despite my efforts to rectify the situation, I was not compensated for the additional 50 minutes of wasted time, the time spent waiting for a new, properly cooked pizza, and the overall feeling of being wronged and being implied that I should have put well done if I wanted a actual PROPERLY cooked pizza. While I acknowledge that customers are not always in the right, I have had numerous positive experiences with Domino’s over the years, and this incident stands out as an exception.
I am compelled to rate this Domino’s pizza experience with a 1 star. While the pepperoni breadsticks and soda were good and edible, the uncooked dough (the MAIN COURSE) & in my opinion, the manager implying I was wrong and should have put well done, really gave me a bad taste! (I didn’t know I had to put well done to not get uncooked raw dough!) Also for the fact that they didn’t offer and rather was told they do not give refunds EVER, even if they make the mistake! Bad business practice in my opinion.
I got a code for a free pizza. I was excited about this, and tried to order. Error- must be delivery instead of carry out. Fine. Extra $6 or so for delivery is tolerable. Error- minimum order of $15+ for delivery not met. Sorry, what? So my “free” pizza is going to cost at least $21? Yup. I’m going somewhere else still. Their business practices just always feel so shady.
2023:
The manager literally told me that his bonus is dependent on inventory, so he couldn’t provide a full container of food.
I have ordered Alfredo Pasta from Domino’s many times in the past in Bend and it was fine. I have ordered it from Redmond twice, and both times immediately called the store requesting a refund. They don’t offer refunds.
To his credit, the first time this happened, the manager remade my order. It was good. Afterwards, I talked up the store and how he handled the situation. This second time, though, he made his excuses and said that he filled the container to “Domino’s standard” which is apparently less than half full.
He then told me that the employees get their bonus based on how much inventory they save, so he couldn’t afford to fill the container I paid for every time I order. REALLY?! You’re not going to provide the food I paid for because if you skimp on the portion, you get a pay incentive?
I’m never ordering from this location again. I’d advise against anyone else from ordering here. I’m intending to take this to corporate if possible to see if they may restaff the location with individuals that will represent their brand with integrity.
Attached pictures are my first order with literally 4 edible bites, and the replacement the manager made. (Good on him that time!) The second order (not pictured) wasn’t as bad, but still I ate it all in just 6 bites. Absurd. (And he REFUSED to remake it at this point.)
