I stopped by Ordinary for a nightcap with my boyfriend on our date night and it DID NOT disappoint! They are currently in the holiday spirit with lots of winter themed drinks and decor. They have an EXPANSIVE selection of liqueurs and spirits. I found a few new things to try while just sitting at the bar. They also serve a few late night bites. We tried the Brown Butter Choco Cookies…to die for! Our bartenders were super sweet and even made us some special creative holiday shots (for a price of course lol). They have specials on a daily basis too. We were there on a Tuesday and got our “Vinylry” cocktails for just $10! The drinks were great, the people were friendly, the music was good, and the atmosphere was amazing. Holiday season or not, I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a chill evening out or a quick drink.

First time in CT. and what are the odds we meet these incredible people. One of the owners, Ben gave us a printed list of the spots to check out in the area and meanwhile, Marcelo, the mixologist whipped up some of the finest cocktails we’ve ever had. We gave him our profile and he did the rest. Wish we had more time to spend here, but in the span of 2 drinks this is easily one of the best bars I’ve ever been to. 5 stars isn’t enough. Such a vibe

amazing experience. We were walked through the menu and given amazing recommendations. Marcelo was a 10/10, he was a great bartender we told him what we liked and he made sure our drinks reflected that. It is very rare that we have great drinks, food and service! If you are in New Haven I 100% would recommend this place! The place was also comfortable and they had plenty of seating.

Went here for Happy Hour. The place is beautifully decorated, and the vibe is incredible. I could sit there for hours. It has a warm, inviting ambiance that is perfect for meeting up with a friend and catching up. I think it was the nostalgia of a Gremlin on the light fixture for me that cemented this place in my heart! Well-worth a stop if you’re in New Haven. Metered street parking (paid) is available right outside, for your convenience.

Absolutely adorable spot. It’s a cute little speakeasy that is now Christmas themed with a really fun and inventive menu. We spent a good while here and had a great time. It was an intimate vibe, and the drinks were very good.

The mystery of it all is really cool. Love the hidden bar and the theme. The bartenders are very professional and the drinks are perfect. I got the Vampires kiss which was delicious and really cool at the same time. Had a good time period .

I’ve always been curious to visit Ordinary, so my husband and I stopped in for their Christmas pop up while we were in the area. We had a prime seat in front of the decorated fire place and enjoyed all of the decorations. Though we came at 5:30pm on Saturday, the server informed us they were already out of a couple of the menu items we were hoping to try, but nonetheless, the food options we picked were tasty. Really creative drinks and something for every palate! Our only critique was that it took 40 minutes for our one banana bread skull to come out. I think our server may have forgotten to put in the order initially, but even after we reminded him it still took longer than we expected, and it wasn’t served warm, so we were left a little confused. Otherwise, cool space with great drinks and inexpensive food options, and we could definitely see ourselves bringing our friends here to hang out.

From the moment you walk in, Ordinary hits you with that speakeasy-style charm hidden behind a door that feels like it belongs in the Prohibition era. It’s got this moody, vintage vibe that sets the tone before you even sit down.

The food Not bad at all believe it or not, some of the bites definitely hold their own. But let’s be real the star of the show is hands-down the chocolate chip cookies. Gooey, rich, and warm, they come out like they were baked by someone who understands your soul. Seriously, don’t skip them.

Whether you’re there for a chill night out, good conversation, or just want to feel like you’re sipping cocktails in a hidden 1920s bar Ordinary delivers. Just save room for dessert. Trust me.

Fun place! We had dinner rezzies nearby but got to NH early. When we called to see if there was a wait the guy on the phone told us to come on in for a cocktail before dinner. Glad we did! Love the vibe-spooky and festive at the same time (this was right after new year’s and they had decorated the place fully for the holidays. I love an all-in theme! Bartenders (and the guy on the phone who let us in) were super nice! The seasonal cocktail meh was fun and the cocktails we had were good. 4 stars bc the music was SO loud and not good (IMO) that we couldn’t really hear one another. Loved everything else about it though and would love to see it during Halloween season!

Ordinary is a true speakeasy experience—true to its name, you could easily miss it if you’re not paying attention! It used to be the Taft Hotel’s bar, which adds a charming bit of history to the place. Every time I visit, I’m impressed by both the food and drinks. We tried the mac & cheese, grilled cheese, candied nuts, and roasted potatoes, and everything was spot on. But the real highlight is the drinks—my go-to is the sour amaretto with egg whites, and they do a phenomenal job every single time! If you’re looking for a hidden gem with excellent food and standout cocktails, Ordinary is a must-visit when in New Haven!
