Intimate space with excellent food. Service was wonderful. We ordered the filet mignon and the scallops, both exceeded expectations. Already have plans of coming back!

Boulevard Bistro was one of the first restaurants I tried when I first moved into Elk Grove a year and some change ago.
I really enjoyed going and ordering takeout from this restaurant with my partner for the bone marrow, which used to be incredible, which I have attached for reference.

As of late however, they change how they cut the bones. Before, they were splitting them down the middle and you have two beautiful halves you can scoop out from that cook wonderfully.

Now they cut the bone marrow cylinders horizontally across the tube, so now you have these tubes which I have a lot of problems with.

I’m not sure if it’s a market scheme to make it seem like you get more bang for your buck since they give you three cylinders instead of two halves, but they’re obviously much more stout and might not even be the whole bone that you used to get.

They now cook UNEVENLY. You get a lot more inconsistency in the texture and temperature to the point that it MIGHT EVEN BE RAW, which is a ton more DANGEROUS than plain uncooked steak or other cuts of meat. My first order of marrow was undercooked, and it was VILE which I didn’t even dare to try it. I added a star because the manager graciously had it remade for me free of charge, but the next set was also pretty unevenly cooked which I didn’t bother fighting about as I didn’t have another 30 minutes to spare waiting.

When it is cut across the tube into cylinders, there is A LOT OF WASTED & INACCESSIBLE MARROW.
The cooked bones naturally have a lot of rogue bone thread inside, and there is never a perfect hollowed out bone. This is usually not a problem when the bone is split down the middle. When you cut it into tubes, scraping these bones clean becomes a herculean task.
You can’t dip bread and enjoy this in a relaxing fashion anymore; you have to pine for every little piece of marrow you can get and still waste a large portion of it.
With the order I had replaced I used all 3 cylinders to barely fill out only 1 of the 4 small pieces of bread you get.

Combining all of this with the fact that it literally feels like you get less bone for $24 is just downright upsetting. I feel like this is such an obvious oversight in so many ways that it might just be downright malicious and a means to cut corners and cheapen out.

I really used to love this place just for their marrow and I will not be coming back here for takeout or dinner again.

I love this restaurant. I have been there twice and on special occasions. Yes, pricey and yes, Excellent food and service. It’s a small house setting. We enjoyed the steak tartar, bone marrow, artichoke dip, french onion soup, halibut, salmon, filet mignon, fine wine, and great desserts. The staff was attentive, friendly, and I don’t think I had to pour any wine into my own glass. We certainly felt special.

We managed to get last minute seating in the patio area for 4 people and can only say that it was the most unbelievable meal from starters to desert. My husband, who has travelled the world and eaten food prepared by world famous Chefs came away saying this meal exceeded anything he has ever eaten. If able he would rate it worthy of a Mitchelin STAR.

What a gem! This is perfect for date night or intimate dinner with friends.

I came in for dinner at 5pm with a couple friends and we’re warmly greeted and promptly seated. The host gave us the specials of the night and piloted some delicious wine.

Server was really nice and gave good recommendations. For appetizers we tried deviled eggs and pork belly. Must try!!

I had the Broccoli Cheddar soup, followed by the salmon. DELICIOUS!

My friends both had the Wedge Salad and Chicken Breast with Mushroom sauce and they devoured every last bite!

My husband and I have been going to Boulevard Bistro for many years, Mother’s Day brunches, dinner, and Anniversary dinners. Food and service is truly wonderful, generally. We made reservations indicating that we were celebrating an anniversary. While there, we heard the waiter ask the couple behind us if they were celebrating a special event; it was their 35th Anniversary. They were congratulated as they should be. We were never asked if we were celebrating anything. It is our 40th Anniversary! When we were leaving, the same waiter who waited on us asked the most recent couple who was seated if they were celebrating an event. It was their anniversary also. My suggestion, ask all or none. It feels childish to be bothered by this; but the fact is I’m a bit bothered.

Amazing experience! Excellent service and food. You could really tell the staff is highly trained they always made sure water was filled (it was an exceptionally hot day) and checked in on customers more than once. The food is SUPER fresh. We got the pan seared scallops and grilled fillet mignon. Both were cooked to perfection!

My girlfriend and I came here a couple nights ago to celebrate our anniversary, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. I had the filet mignon and she ordered the beef bourguignon. Both dishes were perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and clearly made with fresh ingredients.

Our server, De’Ron (sorry if I spelled that wrong), gave us a fantastic wine recommendation that paired beautifully with our meals. He was attentive and really added to the overall experience.

The atmosphere was warm and intimate, perfect for a special occasion. Everything from the service, the food and the vibe made for a night we won’t forget. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fine dining spot in Elk Grove.
