This little hole in a wall was fantastic. In what’s left of the small town of Taylor this place is a prime example of Southern Cooking. Everything was so good. We had the sampler appetizer, the ribeye and grilled shrimp, with several of their sides. OMG it was so good. 100 percent we will be back.

The food is really good, and that’s what matters most. This isn’t a fancy place, but it’s authentic and very local, which adds to its charm. The blackened catfish was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, and the Rotel fries were a fun, unexpected, and delicious discovery. A great combination and a spot that feels genuinely rooted in the community.

Just a short drive from Oxford, MS, Taylor Grocery is the place to come for catfish! Very much a small town atmosphere. The catfish came out seasoned and fried to perfection. It had a golden crust that kept the fish moist and flaky. Turnip greens were also really good. Highly recommend!

We came from Tampa, FL to visit family and we ALWAYS stop by this lovely place for some fried catfish, hushpuppies and great potato salad. Also love the greens and your brown rice! Can’t leave without having a cobbler with ice cream!!! Wonderful service -kindness is a southern treat as it is everywhere here! May God continue to bless you, Taylor’s. …PS…also witnessed them giving a free $50 meal to go to a Firefighter picking up and said ‘it’s on us, thank y’all for all you do!’ ❤️

Our recent visit to Taylor Grocery and Restaurant was a delightful experience, marked by great food and even better service.

We started with the grilled bacon-wrapped pork chop, which was seasoned beautifully. While it was slightly overcooked for my taste, it was still very enjoyable—nothing was left on the plate! The ribeye, however, was a true highlight—seasoned to perfection and cooked to a flawless medium rare. It was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor.

To end the meal, we indulged in a slice of pecan pie with a scoop of ice cream, which was simply delightful. The pie had the perfect balance of sweetness, and the ice cream added a creamy contrast that made the dessert unforgettable.

The restaurant is BYOB, but there’s a bit of a twist. We were initially confused about the BYOB policy due to some conflicting information posted on Facebook. When we arrived, we were informed that you need to bring your beverages in a brown paper bag—no ice chests allowed. Fortunately, Lynn was there to clear up our confusion. He went above and beyond in terms of customer service, making sure we understood the policy and felt comfortable.

Our server, Megan, was exceptional. She was incredibly attentive, always had a smile on her face, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal.

Overall, Taylor Grocery and Restaurant offers a warm atmosphere, delicious food, and outstanding service. Just be sure to bring your beverages in a brown paper bag, and you’ll be set for a wonderful dining experience!

Hope this captures your experience well!

Came here with my in laws on a Saturday evening. Just a heads up, this place gets really busy! Go early, or expect a wait. They do not take reservations, nor will they seat you if your whole party is not present.

We got there a little past 6 PM and was told the wait time is an hour. We actually only waited 20 minutes. Our server was great! Good Ole southern hospitality where they still call you, “sweetie and baby.”

I ordered the grilled chicken. It was juicy and tender. Did it wow me? No. But the service and the quick food delivery made up for it. The food wasn’t terrible, but I wouldn’t make an effort to go out of my way to come back.

I had a very good experience. I had the catfish, and it was AMAZING, I am from Chile, and I have eaten a lot of kind of preparation with fishes but none as delicious and taste as this. The dessert is also delicious.
The waitresses were very kind and nice.
It’s really a place that I am going to miss, since I am not from this area.

Excellent down-home food, in a genuine rustic old country store. Delicious down-home cooking. Fair prices. The fried catfish is their signature dish, & everything else is delicious, too.
