Okayama is a wonderful family-owned restraunt with great staff and amazing food. Even on opening night when they were very busy and had many customers lining up to be served on their first day open, staff stayed on top of parties and tables and checked on customers regularly. There was a but of a wait for the chef (about an hour) but they served drinks and appetizers within 5 or 10 minutes after being seated, so the time went by fast. The food was phenomenal and rivaled Benihanas, in my opinion the steak and other menu items were much better even! Plus I’d rather give money to a small business with local ownership than a chain any day. Even on opening day when most restraunts are a mess, dinner was great and they were definitely ready to open!

I called ahead and made a reservation for 7. Upon arriving we were promptly greeted and sat. The server who took our drink and dinner orders was quick and attentive. The chef that cooked for us was entertaining and great. My 5 year old had a blast and even got to build the onion volcano! The food was cooked well and tasted good. We look forward to returning!

Wow just wow!! The previous owners from the hibachi restaurant near board and brew, have continued the amazing service, food quality and atmosphere here. Seating seemed a bit cramped, but overall it was an amazing experience. The chefs were very interactive and portions were ample.

Ok so here is my verdict:
I would definitely come back
Pros:
No wait, food came out quick , Chicken had a lot of flavor and so did the shrimp. For the first time in my life I ate the noodles, would eat the noodles again. Plenty of parking
Cons:
Rice was a little bland needed more flavor

This is the BEST hibachi restaurant in the San Diego area. Everything is clean and new, the staff is friendly, the portions are generous, and the food is consistently amazing. We are longtime customers and will continue to be!

It was fine. The fried rice could of added more butter and seasoning. The filet mignon and scallops were very well cooked and tender.

Started off with the soup and salad and it took me back to Japan. Generous portion of salad dressing was a bonus. The teppan show was great! Chef was interactive and funny. Food had flavor and tasted great. Steak was cooked medium as requested and lobster was not overcooked. Overall a great place especially when the price was right. Also received a birthday ice cream dessert afterwards.

The food was good, it’s not cheap but you get a lot. Service was top notch! Oscar was our main server and was excellent! Our chef was a lot of fun too (I don’t know his name). We will definitely go back!

I visited this restaurant a couple days ago and now it’s my favorite hibachi restaurant. The chef was spectacular and made us laugh a lot. The server we had was Oscar and he did an amazing job and was very nice, he even asked us what language we felt more comfortable with since he heard us speaking Spanish and turns out he’s bilingual. The overall experience was top notch even though I would recommend not seasoning.

I had my family of five planned for a reservation time. They even called to allow us to come in earlier after we attempted it and they didn’t originally have something. My whole family appreciated the fact they took the time to call us in sooner. It was delicious and the hibachi chef was outstanding (and hilarious). Such a fun environment, exactly what San Diego needed! Will definitely be coming back!
