The food here is amazing. The hot and sour soup is the best I’ve ever had.

I really wanted to like Gaslight Kitchen Asian Cuisine given their high Google rating but our experience was extremely disappointing. The first red flag was the person who answered the phone, who came off a bit rude but we were hungry so we brushed it off.

We ordered two large fried rice, lo mein, crab rangoon, sweet and sour chicken, orange chicken. Our total came to exactly 100 dollars. Even though we already felt that was excessive, we were excited to try it based on the reviews. Unfortunately, the food was extremely mediocre and absolutely not worth that price.

The crab rangoon was sadly the best part of the meal, but even that lacked filling. I am not sure if the pricing is influenced by the property value or location, but the quality just did not match the cost. We do not mind spending money on good food, even if it is pricey, but this simply did not hit the spot at all.

The orange chicken had unusually large chunks that made me question whether it was previously frozen or even chicken in the first place. The fried rice was also disappointing, lacking both color and flavor. Based on this experience, we definitely will not be returning.

Was not what I was expecting. It is really expensive here, so I was hoping to have bigger portions but it seems like they don’t want to give you a lot of chicken. The crab rangoons did not have enough filling either, it was mostly “the golden brown nibble”. I got the almond chicken, and it was mostly whole almonds I was chewing on and tiny pieces of chicken. Also it was prepared way differently than what most restaurants do, but to each their own. If it was $20 cheaper, I would understand but it was $70 for only 3 people!!

This restaurant is a hidden gem. We ordered the large family dinner for 4 in a takeout and it was incredible. I’ve never had any egg drop soup that even comes close to theirs. I loved the sizzling rice soup but I have one suggestion to improve it. Use some egg drop soup base in it just to turn the broth up a bit in taste. Every meal was very generous and oh so good! Fresh is the best word I can use to describe everything we ate. The staff is great, the restaurant is impeccably clean and I can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely wonderful in every way. I could see coming here for a cute date night or just for some fantastic takeout. Incredible service. Incredible food. I’m a bit picky to be completely honest, and they were so kind and knowledgeable when it came to the food allergens I needed to avoid. They also were great about sharing about how everything was made in general and what was in everything. Very short wait time. No weird bits in the meat(a forever pet peeve of mine). A generous amount of chicken. Normally I find that there’s not a good meat to noodle ratio at other places, but they did a great job. Highly recommend. 10/10

Came to Grand Rapids with the family for the lantern festival, drove 15 mins to get here and no regrets whatsoever! The BEST fine Asian food I have ever had, General Tso I got with white meat was to die for. The beef skewers was such a cool experience as well. The kids even got smoothies and loved them! Staff is great as well.

Food: you have Chinese-American restaurants in every town, but you rarely have really good ones. Gaslight is one of the really good ones.

The dumplings were not only great, but seem like such a rarity these days.

Orange chicken came recommended so we gave that a try along with tofi vegetable stir fry. Not disappointed, orange sauce was amazing with a very deep citrus flavor and even little bits of peel in it was almost like candy. Vegetables in the stir fry were perfectly cooked, still having some crunchiness and not the typical mush.

Service was very good, but a little odd for dining in. They gave us menus, let us pick our seats, but then had us come up to the bar to order. We later found out it was due to a constant lack of staff. Everyone was very nice, food came out fairly quickly with a perfect pause between our appetizers and mains.

The inside is a little sparse. Straight back wooden chairs. Once people started filling the place it got a bit loud.

Stopped in for an early dinner/late lunch at 3pm. I ordered the Sweet and Sour Pork, a large serving with plenty of rice, and a Vietnamese coffee. The Sweet & Sour was very good, coffee was too. Service was excellent.

Absolutely great. Unfortunately, we have struggled to find a high quality Chinese restaurant anywhere in the area. Using google maps to track down this establishment; it was fantastic. The owner spent time with us conversing and even showed us the proper way to roll mushu pork, in the pancake, with plum sauce. Everything was fresh and high quality. Service was excellent. We even laughed that restroom could be in a hospital; which says a lot about how a business is managed. I hope the best for Mr. Ly. The pride of ownership and attention to quality was evident. We will be back; worth the drive from Grand Haven.

I think each dish my fiancé and I ate, we made a positive comment about how something was different from most Chinese places. The amount of veggies, tofu, meat in the soups was awesome. The dumplings and egg rolls had more meat in them than any I’ve had before and the sauces they came with were perfect to dip in. The sesame chicken was to die for, perfect sauce and flavor, the chicken was tender and the breading held its crisp even with the sauce coating. The chow mein had tender meat and great flavor, the vegetables were cooked amazingly. The service was fantastic, it was quiet when we were there and it almost felt like a private dinner, they even boxed up all our leftovers for us when we were done. The entrees were 15-20$ and were very large and can be shared easily! Overall amazing experience, we live quite far but will be back
