The service was fantastic. Allison, our waitress, was friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was spot on from start to finish.
And the food? Outstanding. For an Italian restaurant in a beach town, my wife and I were seriously impressed (and we’ve eaten in Italy, so we don’t say that lightly). The warm bread with fresh herbs and olive oil was the perfect start. The mussels and clams were fresh and swimming in a delicious red sauce. I had the bucatini, my wife had the scallop risotto, and both dishes were excellent.
If you’re in town—or staying at the Omni—do yourself a favor and check out Nonna Mia.

This meal was absolutely fantastic. I was a little hesitant because of the recent reviews, but I can assure you that things are totally different. Luckily we were able to snag an opening on Open Table last minute for Valentine’s Day and my husbands birthday. From the moment we walked in until we left he was greeted with happy birthday wishes. We had the chopped salad, muscles, lasagna and baked Amelia. Everything was exceptional. Our server Sandy was great, as were all the staff we interacted with. The smoked lasagna had a depth of flavor that’s hard to describe and the table side flambé Amelia was a lot of fun. The canapés and antipasto were a lovely added touch. And because it was Valentine’s Day we were treated to a strawberry cannoli and rose.

It was only day two and it’s only fair to give some time for a new restaurant to work out the kinks. Ours was not a fantastic experience. The service was the best aspect. Although it’s not five star, it’s 4+. We were more disappointed in the food. Two members of our group of four had main dishes that were not bad, not great. Two of us had dishes that could have been produced at a local grocery store in the ready to eat section. The quality of the meals seemed as though they came from one of the mass producer restaurant suppliers ( doesn’t really fit the “Nonna Mia” name.) The “family style” portions are not really family style and it only seems to justify a high price ( which we would be delighted to pay if the food was worth it). The menu is in the form of recipe cards held together with binder rings and we were told it will be revised and the change would be welcomed. It was a little difficult. Our group is the type to go back and try a restaurants again even if the first dining wasn’t the best. Again, The service was very good and we are hopeful that Nonna Mia will become what it’s meant be. We can certainly use a really good Italian restaurant in Amelia island.

My experience at Nonna Mia was beyond lovely. I had planned to meet my family there after work on a Friday and had been looking forward to the evening all week. However, when the day arrived and I began the drive from Jacksonville to beautiful Amelia Island, I found myself exhausted from a busy workweek and quietly wishing we had opted for a cozy dinner at my mother’s house instead.
I was pleasantly surprised to discover that my evening unfolded as the perfect balance of elegant dining and genuine warmth. The experience began the moment I arrived, with the unexpected and all-too-rare gesture of a gracious, impeccably groomed gentleman named Robert opening the door and welcoming me with such kindness that I immediately felt as though I were being invited into his home.
I was then greeted by the lovely Paige, who escorted me to the most charmingly set table—complete with coffee cups adorned with delicate, hand-painted florals. How refreshing it was to see something other than the standard white place setting.
Shortly thereafter, I met Sandy, who not only introduced herself as the person who would be caring for my family that evening, but also took the time to engage in warm, personal conversation and share the history of the restaurant. By the time she asked for my drink order, I felt such confidence in her knowledge and taste that I happily deferred to her recommendation.
The food was exceptional across the board. I could easily go on about every dish, but I was especially fond of the chopped salad and the Branzino, both of which were beautifully prepared and delicious. The evening concluded with a final, unforgettable touch: table-side service of tiramisu—absolutely divine, and this is coming from someone who typically does not care for the dessert.
If you are looking for a dining experience that feels both special and sincerely welcoming, I cannot recommend Nonna Mia with more enthusiasm.

Since Nonna Mia was a new restaurant we weren’t sure what to expect, but we were pleasantly surprised and impressed! We went with a group of eight friends and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had the chicken parm and it was one of the best I’ve had. Everyone enjoyed their food and the service was great too! Highly recommend!

Excellent experience. Fantastic Stuffed Squash Blossoms and chopped salad. Lasagna was homestyle and rich with cheeses and meatless. Banana dessert was perfect- rich but not too sweet with moist banana cake bottom and a cheesecake top. Very pleasant atmosphere.

We were very excited to try out this new Italian restaurant. The bartenders were very pleasant. Food took a while to come. Got the meatball for an appetizer. It’s one large meatball with bread but not enough sauce to use with the bread. Mozzarella cheese on top was like a solid, unable to chew. Got noodles with pink sauce (not much flavor), gnocchi- came room temperature, they took back (they offered) and it came back still room temperature with hot plate. Didn’t like the gnocchi at all and I love gnocchi. Lastly we got ox tail. This dish came looking like soup, tiny pieces of ox tail must’ve been in it but for the price, very disappointed. We love going out to eat and normally are easily pleased which was why I felt compelled to make this review. I think they need to start over with a new menu in my opinion. Very unsatisfied.

Service was good, caesar salad had no flavor, bland. I had the Nonna meatball for an app.which was ok but came out the same time as the salad. Entree I had the rigatoni which again had no flavor and the pasta was over cooked making it mushy. Didn’t eat it. My spouse had the shrimp scampi which consisted of shrimp and cherry tomatoes in a watery sauce that just tasted like oregano. If you wanted pasta with it, that was extra. The menu is designed like a Rolodex which was strange and cumbersome. Very few people in the place, now I know why. Never again. Very disappointed.
