For starters, I had their 75-year-old recipe hot tamales, and they were really good, a perfect way to kick off the meal. I followed that with the traditional wedge salad, topped with blue cheese, diced onions, tomatoes, smoked bacon, sliced egg, and their delicious house dressing. Everything was fresh and full of flavor.
For my main course, I ordered the grilled redfish, which was seasoned and lightly dusted, paneed in olive oil, and topped with fresh lump crab meat. You can also choose grilled shrimp instead, and they’ll add a rich beurre blanc sauce if you like. The fish was cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
This place is a real bang for your buck. The portions are generous, and everything was seasoned just right. The atmosphere is classy yet comfortable, making it a great spot for a nice dinner out.
Pro tip: I recommend making a reservation to ensure better seating, especially on weekends.

I used to love going to dinner where people were dressed appropriately. Life has changed, I guess. I’m sure everyone’s money spends the same. Bluejeans in a nice restaurant is just a no go for me as well as tennis shoes. Our server however was the nicest young man. I believe we were seated by an underage young lady? Maybe 12 or so. It was awkward. She did have an older person with her but just unusual. The food was good, not as good as I remember but maybe just an off night. The front desk area needs a better plan. There was a wait because the guy was on the phone and he had the reservation book. A hand held pad would help with these situations and your customers wouldn’t have to wait.

We went for my wife’s birthday. One of the best steaks I’ve had in my entire life. Our server was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed which was about 18 glasses of water. I even forgot to ask for the crab topping and he was able to get it to me in about 3 min. It was worth the wait for the crab topper. I can’t wait to go back I’ll be looking for any excuse to go.

Atmosphere and service was great. Food was not as expected. Salads were very bland, Steaks were good, stuffed shrimp was dry with to much stuffing with very little, if any crab meat and a strong herb/seasoning in the stuffing. Crab Claws and the Tuna Tower were great.

I have had the pleasure of experiencing a variety of different restaurants across the nation and in different countries. For me, what is important are customer service, ambiance, and most importantly the food. Shapley’s of Ridgeland is a diamond in the rough. This family owner and operated restaurant had the feeling of being at home. The owner and his wife took the time to invest in every one of their customers experience in their restaurant. Going out of their way to even provide insight into how delicious it was to use their warm bread to “SOP-UP” the grilled shrimps juices. And how wonderful it was. The steak was like butter melting in you mouth and the grilled onions and mushrooms could probably be a vegan/veggie entree on their menu. My wife and I can’t wait to visit again. Thank you for going the extra mile.

Ohmygoodness! I really don’t know where to start! Hubby brought me to Shapley’s for my birthday. The entire experience was phenomenal! I’m horrible with names, but our server was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and on top of her game. I think her last name was Fletcher.

This was one of the best steakhouses I’ve visited in the area. My husband enjoyed the New York Strip with blue cheese crust, and I enjoyed the Grilled Redfish topped with crab meat and shrimp. The cracked pepper parmesan dressing is a must on the salad. *chef’s kiss* The Sparkling Blueberry Lemonade went perfectly with my entree. The bread pudding…OMGosh, please keep this delectable dessert on the menu. The food was delicious, and the service was top tier. This was the perfect ending to my special day! 🙂 We will definitely be back!
