The food, the drinks, the service (with Liz), the atmosphere! If I was on death row, this would be my last meal Everything was perfection as always! You can taste the love in all the food. Even the salsa tastes like home made. Not watered down like most restaurants. Full of flavor. My new favorite Mexican restaurant! Go!!!

What a great experience. We completed our full moon ride and were pleased to find this gem was still serving food and drinks with karaoke as well! Philippe provided great service. The food was delicious, salsa choices were unique and appealing and the drinks were delicious. We will definitely come again! I had the delicious birra dish and it was phenomenal. My friends had an assortment of tacos and were also very pleased with their meals. Everything and everyone had a great time! We can’t wait to come again!

I ordered a shrimp taco to go and this is what they gave me. Chicken. I’m super upset because I went there and 1. the food is TOO EXPENSIVE it’s NOT worth it! The hype is too much honestly.
2. They charged me $7 for a shrimp taco and $6 for a steak taco.
I asked for no cilantro or onion. And they gave me this.
I will NOT be coming back. They are not a good Mexican place anyways because the food is not as good as they charge you.
I spent $120 and I threw all my food away.
Wouldn’t recommend.

This is hands down one of the best Mexican food places in Elgin. It is amazing!! The food is delicious!!! The service is top notch! MARIANO is the best waiter there!!! He goes above and behind every time we come here. He is so attentive and just super friendly. We come here for birthdays he dances and comes out with tequila shots and a juice shot for my little nephew. They just make you feel so welcome here! Nothing we have ordered here has disappointed. The fajitas, the tacos the burritos so good! The breakfast is amazing as well! 10/10. Portions are huge as well! We love this place! I saw another review about the music being too loud, I have experienced this once but we kindly asked them to turn it down and they gladly did. They are always so friendly and welcoming.

Had to re-post my first review due to the photos not loading.
The first time here, we came from Chicago because we saw them on TikTok.
Parking nearby and close to the casino and the river. The restaurant is very pretty and seemed to have a pretty big space, but I didn’t see the upstairs or patio. We were seated right away. They seemed busy even though it was still pretty early in the day, and what we ordered came out quickly, and everything was pretty good. The only things to mention were that we were seated in a high-top table, near the window, and it wasn’t very comfortable because the space was small, wish we could have had a booth with more room for us but seemed like most were full. Also, we were celebrating a birthday, but there was no way to let anyone know since no reservations can be made or any notice given on the website. Also, our server was nice, and he did check both our IDs when we ordered our drinks first but never said anything about my birthday or anything, and I had to keep asking a few times just to get ice water and didn’t get it (only 1 for 2 people) until we asked for the check. Might come back, if ever in the area.
**We came back a few weeks later, we were able to get a booth this time, service was great very friendly and welcoming, and the food was even better (we ordered different items the second time) and they more than made up for any issues from our first visit. We got to take and purchase couples photos, too.
Would recommend.

Atmosphere was amazing! We loved the music although it was a bit too loud when trying to order the food. My boyfriend ordered chicken enchiladas without onions because he is severely allergic. When his food came 1st bite grilled onion!! We let her know and literally she was not aware the chicken was already prepared with onion… how are you not aware of how your food is prepared here ? We went to speak to the manager and he literally asked us “what do you want us to do for you? You are the manager you tell me ? The waitress came back and said that they couldn’t make anything for my boyfriend because everything is cooked with or prepared with onion… including the rice and beans. The waitress had the audacity to tell us that he couldnt even eat the chips! She later came back to the table ans started arguing with my boyfriend! We went back to talk to the manager and feel that he this time handled the situation better. He offered to remove our items from the bill and speak to the waitress. We feel awful because we didn’t want to bring any negativity to our friends birthday. They brought a cake slice and did a little dance with an airplane that included a shot for our friend.

While there are a wealth of options throughout Elgin for good Hispanic food, El Patio stands out for its fantastic atmosphere, great service, and amazing value lunch specials. The bartender Angel provided top notch service despite being short staffed on a busy holiday.
The wide selection of drinks likely make this a great venue for evening drinks, and their bombastic party appetizers and drink flights – severed in large pigs, bulls, and airplanes alongside music and dance – does wonders for getting the whole place in a festive atmosphere.

I went for my birthday in December ‘25 and their service was lovely! Our waiter Mariano was very attentive and friendly! Although it’s a bit expensive it was definitely worth it!

This place I had no idea about at all stepping through the doors. Rode out motorcycles there with a groups of friends. Was loud and normally not my style of restaurant. This though was legit. People were having a blast all good vibes tons of fun energy and the food was very good! Expensive for sure but I would say worth it for the experience for sure! Super unique. Salsas were hot meaning temperature wise which was unique and not my thing, but still good. Shrimps I tried were amazingly flavorful and unique and would go back for just that! Everyone seemed to be very impressed and even had a trained chef with us riding so there’s that. Desert was good too!
