As we waited, we discovered the convenience of ordering our food via our mobile devices. However, we were not greeted for approximately five minutes. Eventually, the server approached our table and inquired whether we desired to place an order through our phones or if she should proceed with our request. Given the extended duration of our wait, we opted to order from our phones.
For beverages, we opted for iced Thai teas, which were exceptionally delightful. Our appetizer, Thai House dumplings, was satisfactory, earning a rating of 7 out of 10. My fiancé ordered Drunken noodles with a spicy level of “spicy,” which were quite palatable. However, my dish, the Yellow Roast Duck (medium spice level), emerged as the culinary highlight of the evening. It was generously portioned and accompanied by a side of white rice. The sole drawback was the exorbitant price of $38.95, a reflection of the current market conditions.
For dessert, we indulged in Mango Sticky Rice, which was satisfactory. Overall, while the dining experience presented a certain financial burden, it was an enjoyable experience nonetheless.
From the moment we walked in, the experience at this gem in Morehead City felt like a warm embrace. The star of the night was Thai sticky rice, prepared to perfection and served with a level of care that turned a simple meal into a weekend highlight.
Jasmine, my server, was a joy from start to finish. Her genuine warmth and attentiveness made us feel instantly welcome. She anticipated my needs with a smile, offered thoughtful recommendations, and checked in just the right amount of times to keep us comfortable without ever being intrusive. Beyond her excellent hospitality, Jasmine’s kindness and easygoing personality added a personal touch that made the whole evening special. It’s not every dining experience where you leave feeling like you’ve made a new friend.
The food itself was amazing. The Thai sticky rice was perfectly steamed—glossy, fragrant, and with the ideal chewy texture that kept each bite interesting. The accompanying flavors—savory, slightly sweet, and just the right amount of fragrant coconut—were balanced beautifully, showcasing a mastery of technique and a deep respect for the dish. Every element, from the aroma to the final bite, spoke of quality and care.
In short, this restaurant delivered not just a meal, but a memorable weekend experience. If you’re in Morehead City and craving authentic Thai flavors, this is the place to go. Highly, highly recommend—steam, flavor, and service that leave you grinning long after you’ve finished your plate. I can’t wait to return.
Instead of showing any understanding, the blonde waitress said, “She’s not a service dog,” and then followed it with, “and she’s peeing on the floor,” as if the accident proved she wasn’t legitimate. I apologized again, told her Kuma is a baby in training, and apologized a second time — but she still repeated, once again, “She’s not a service dog,” essentially accusing me of lying. She then told me to remove the “animal” “immediately,” all in a cold, dismissive tone. She kept her voice low so other customers wouldn’t hear, but her attitude was harsh and lacked basic compassion. And I overheard her complaining to other employees and she was rolling her eyes and her body language was hostile. All is unacceptable. It was a baby having an accident (which is actually not normal for her).
For clarity, service animals (and service animals in training) are legally protected, including in North Carolina. A young service dog in training having an accident does not invalidate her status, especially at only four months old. Yes of course she had the right to ask us to leave; but ma’am, please be kind. There’s enough harshness in the world. My pup is my biggest happiness and I never intended to offend or disrupt any establishment in any way.
Without getting into personal details, I rely on Kuma for real reasons. Being accused of lying and spoken to like that — while I was already embarrassed and trying to clean up the accident — was extremely upsetting and triggered the very thing I have her to help me manage. A small amount of kindness would have gone a long way.
I do want to highlight that the brunette waitress and the owners daughter was wonderful — genuinely kind, warm, and understanding. Because of brunette waitresses kindness, I still left a good tip even though the interaction with the blonde waitress was so hurtful. Kuma is only four months old, and I’ve only had her for two weeks, but I was treated as if I was doing something dishonest despite doing everything possible to be responsible.
I truly hope the restaurant considers offering the staff member some training on compassion and professionalism, especially when a customer is clearly trying to do the right thing.
I wish I could simply write a good review about the atmosphere and food, but the service is what makes or break a business.
Let’s get the record straight. It was after 5:00, and the doors were still locked. Please don’t misrepresent what happened. I was there and know exactly when the doors were unlocked.
Next, I never complained about the curry being too spicy. The server asked what spice level I wanted, and I said mild. That was the entire exchange. At no point did I complain about the spice or the food’s flavor, so that statement in your response is simply inaccurate.
As for the $100 tip on a $48 bill, that was solely for Jasmine, who was the only person that made me feel genuinely welcome. She was friendly, attentive, and professional — everything you’d hope for in good service. That tip reflected her performance, not the overall experience.
The food was good, but good food alone doesn’t guarantee a great dining experience. When staff come across as indifferent or unapproachable, it takes away from the atmosphere. If everyone treated customers the way Jasmine did, this restaurant would absolutely earn the 5 stars it aims for.
I always support local restaurants and give fair feedback. But instead of acknowledging the points I raised, the management’s public reply felt defensive rather than receptive. True professionalism comes from listening, not deflecting. A little accountability goes a long way in keeping loyal customers.
********Initial Review**********
Happy to support a local business, but this restaurant won’t do well if the front staff continues with the same unpleasant attitude. Other than Jasmine, most of the waitresses come across rude or uninterested whenever we visit. We’re never greeted, and the customer service feels more like an afterthought than a priority. They really need to take a course in basic hospitality and customer service—because good food only goes so far if people don’t feel welcome.
My vegetarian wife got the yellow curry w tofu, and said it was the best she’s had. Spicy, so be sure to specify what you want.
Friend had vegetarian Pad Thai and thought it was a little bland at first bite. But came back to it as leftovers that night and said the flavors had really melded and it she loved it.
We also bought a bag of 8 “thai cookies” (pic). Slightly sweet, light crisp waffle-flower looking. Liked them, would get them again.
