Some nights out should take their time. Some should take you back in time. At Cicada, you’ll remove yourself from the 21st century for a night of timeless tunes of days gone by in the Art Deco splendor of the 1928 Oviatt Building. Our historic landmark venue is a hot spot for vintage dining, dancing, and filming. Its authentic Golden Age ambiance sweeps our guests away with a classically jovial spirit. It’s a place of style, celebration, and romance, where anyone can dance to the best bands in the nation. A special place that leaves time behind.
Italian fare gets a Californian twist at this glamorous, art deco supper club with big-band nights.

The only thing that wasn’t on par with everything else was the good we ordered. We had the steak and the salmon, not the best, in my opinion. However, the stuffed shrimp and the Tuna Tartar was really good, while the Tiramisu was Excellent and so were the drinks (had to mention drinks again because the bar tender was making them perfectly). I need to learn ballroom dancing and come back here again so we can take full advantage of the atmosphere and ambience.
The restaurant itself is a sight to behold, with cleanliness and sophistication evident in every corner. The upstairs bar boasts a balcony view that adds a touch of charm to the experience. While the drinks are of good quality, the prices may raise eyebrows, with each beverage costing approximately $20. However, a silver lining is the dinner special which features a 3-course meal starting around $89 per person, offering a decent value for the delectable cuisine on offer.
The true highlight of the evening was the live performance by Tinos Production showcasing exceptional musical talent that captivated the audience. This performance alone made the visit worthwhile, leaving a lasting impression of their artistry.
Despite the enchanting experience, the steep prices may deter frequent visits. Additionally, the unexpected gratuity percentage added to the bill, i believe not disclosed in the menu or website, left a slight disappointment. This practice may fall under the new SB478 regulations aiming for transparency in pricing.
For convenience, valet parking services are available in front of the building, albeit likely incurring an additional charge. While this restaurant offers a unique and memorable experience, the overall cost may limit return visits for some patrons. This is my personal opinion and recommend anyone to visit this place them self’s.
Highly recommended.
