Hot & sour soup. Sweet & sour chicken with chicken chow mein. Quick service, entree arrived before I’d finished soup. Soup was nice heat level. Chicken moist and all was hot, but would have liked a little more s/s sauce. Also nice to have tea. Great prices and service. They seemed to do a lot of takeout and door dash.

If you are ever in The Dalles, Or and looking for a great Chinese restaurant, this is the place. Their food is amazing! I haven’t had one entrée that I didnt love. I highly recommend their Kung pao chicken or broccoli beef. I wish I lived in The Dalles just so I could eat there once a week!

We’ve ordered takeout from this restaurant many times, and our experiences have been consistently positive. The staff is warm, attentive, and often greets me by name while recalling previous orders—a small but meaningful gesture that reflects their care for returning customers. The kitchen maintains noticeably fresher frying oil than many establishments in The Dalles, which makes a clear difference in the overall quality of their fried dishes.
The crab puffs are a standout: the filling is creamy and savory, wrapped in a shell that delivers an audible, satisfying crunch. The only drawback is the modest amount of sweet-and-sour sauce provided, which leaves you wanting just one or two more dips than the container allows. The General Tso’s chicken, while pleasantly cooked, lacks the bold, peppery heat typically associated with the dish, resulting in a flavor profile that feels somewhat muted.
In contrast, the Kung Pao chicken bursts with vibrant, smoky spice, and the beef lo mein—when ordered very, very spicy—lands beautifully with deep, savory notes and a lingering heat that builds in all the right ways. The teriyaki chicken is less successful: it cannot be made spicy upon request, and its flavor leans more toward hoisin than true teriyaki, leaving the dish feeling off-style. The BBQ pork fried rice offers a comforting, well-seasoned base, though the actual pieces of BBQ pork are surprisingly sparse. The orange chicken, however, remains a reliably bright and flavorful option, with a citrus glaze that keeps the dish lively without becoming overly sweet.

Been here only once, but the experience deserves credit. Lunch special for $10. It’s a solid deal for the quality and amount of food you get. Main, fried rice, choice of soup and either spring roll or crab puffs. Way better than any quick serve steam tray place. Server was super nice and hot tea seems to be complementary. I will be going back till I try everything on the lunch menu. If you have $10 don’t waste it at taco bell or burger king, support this small business with a staff worth supporting. Thank you Hot Point!
Edit: I have been back a couple times now and I am even more impressed not only by the food but also the friendly service. Everything I have here has been great. In fact, I’m going back this afternoon to try something different. From 4 stars to 5 for the consistency and great service. I’ve had the General Tso chicken every time I go and it is always so crispy and fresh. I think my first photos don’t capture how good it is.

I had the Pork Chow Mien, and I loved it. Great portion size and the price was good. My wife had the Rangoons and they were good as well. Service was good, and the atmosphere is just okay, but considering it is a Chinese restaurant in an old Skipper’s, you can’t expect too much.

This place is a hidden gem in The Dalles! The food is always delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices are great. The to-go orders are also very well packed. (No spillage ever) What really stood out was the customer service — when our DoorDash driver forgot part of our order, the owner personally called us, drove the missing food to our house, and apologized for the mix-up. If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in town!

Im so aggravated, we’ve lived here in the dalles for a few years. We tried a few Chinese restaurants and were disappointed each time. So we gave up. Then i saw a review for Hot Point and the food looked great. We stopped in today and ordered egg drop soup, pot stickers, broccoli and beef, and orange chicken. It was all amazing, and the wait staff were awesome and super friendly. The reason im agravated is not trying this place sooner. And next time we have family in town you can bet we’ll be bringing them in. New favorite place for sure.

We went here for dinner tonight and both the food and service were AMAZING! Corie was our waitress and she did an amazing job. My water was never empty and she had a fantastic attitude. I definitely suggest trying Hot Pot Chinese Restaurant if you are ever near The Dalles. I am sure you will enjoy it as much as we did!
