Reviews
The food was decent. Pretty messy, but good flavor. There was no bacon on our burger. We cut it in half to share. Lots of mayo and mustard. Pickles, lettuce chunks and onions. The patty was thick and juicy with a fat cheese slice melted on it.
The tacos came in a lightly crisped pair of corn tortillas. A healthy portion of carne asada, onions and cilantro. There was a chips and salsa bar, I didn’t take pics of that as there are plenty already in other reviews. The selection looked like some of them could’ve been pretty hot.
Glad we got there when we did as it got busy real quick and we saw two walkouts who got tired of waiting to place an order. Gal could use some help. There was a selection of soft drinks, and bottled water. It pretty much met the expectations we had for it.
Very crunchy fries, freshly fried in clean canola oil.
Women might not want to come alone at night, though. Not the safest enviornment.
Aesthetically, it looks like this building may be a repurposed fast food restaurant built in the ’70s or ’80s and ready for significant renovations to repair and upgrade the exterior, floors, and bathroom. The food preparation reminded me more of a family food truck than a restaurant or diner. But if that doesn’t bother you, this is a great place for Mexican dishes and respite from the road.
My wife thought the red sauce was too sweet and the ground beef a little bland. Like the interior, it may not be for everyone, but I loved everything we ordered. I especially appreciated the extra amount of cheese used in the dishes. Finally, although I am a huge fan of Mexican restaurants (and Tex-Mex, Cali-Mex, etc.), I tend to have taste or texture problems with many salsas. This is the first time ever that I enjoyed every salsa variant available, so I didn’t choose and just went with them all!
There were only 7-8 other customers in the restaurant.
One of the cooks also took our food order.
The food is not really cheap here – and too expensive when compared to what you get and how it tastes.
It took about 25 minutes for the food to be served.
The Taco salad was VERY basic and really flavour less.
The chili rellenos were ok – but the accompanying beans and rise were lacking flavour also.
The place is quite dirty – tables not wiped clean after previous customers and floor dirty.
Been there – done that. Not repeating.
The salsa’s always on point and the vibe feels like a warm welcome.
