Tried Renae’s Café for breakfast and ended up going back a second time—it’s a solid local spot. The first time, I had the chicken fried steak skillet and didn’t love it, but my husband really enjoyed his three-meat skillet, which convinced us to give it another shot. Glad we did! On our second visit, I had the French toast and it was delicious.
Both times the place was busy, but service was fast and friendly, and the coffee was surprisingly good. Overall, a great breakfast spot with a welcoming vibe. We’ll definitely keep coming back.

What can I say about Renae’s? It’s a solid go-to for our family to grab breakfast. The service is fast and friendly. There are girls specifically just to fill drinks and grab empty plates so you’ll never be waiting on a drink, which really elevates any experience for me. The food is absolutely delicious. We have our favorites but the biscuits and gravy are outstanding and we always leave with butterfinger pie.

Well, we were in the neighborhood and hungry. Saw the massive amount of 5 star reviews. Place was packed, but we were seated quickly, and promptly waited on. I went with the Meany Melt and the wife got Chicken and Waffles. My sandwich was cooked well and the side of fries were also cooked well. But the Melt was just kinda blah. No seasonings and just boring. The wife thought her Chicken also lacked seasonings and was also just kinda dull. She said her scrambled eggs were cooked great but again no seasonings used. I’m not discounting the other reviews but we will probably not be going back. We were just underwhelmed and unimpressed..

A lovely little Cafe nestled among a business district on Meany just off Coffee Rd. The cafe was very clean, the staff friendly and efficient. The food was very good for a morning or afternoon visit. I had the french dip sandwich with potato salad on the side. The meat was tender and generous for the 15.50 price. My husband had one of their omelettes and it too was a good and tasty portion. If I had to nitpick on anything, the au jus with my French Dip was slightly salty for my personal taste. But I certainly still enjoyed it. To be honest as well, I tend to avoid salt at home, so you would have to judge for yourself. I’ll certainly recommend it and be going back.

Renae’s cafe is not in your typical place where you would find a restaurant a hidden place you hear people talk about to make you go look for it. We are happy we found it. Depending on which direction you come from either fruitvale or coffe rd you can easily miss it when driving by. We got here for lunch on Sunday they were very busy. We were welcomed right away and were seated. The staff were very friendly got are drink orderd and was told the specials and are server answered any questions we had. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger was going to get a double decided on a single. I thought it was going to be a regular bacon cheeseburger you normally get at any place. No was i wrong It was so delicious ,it did not disappoint in flavor or size. It was seasoned very well and the size of the bacon cheeseburger was big I was getting full halfway eating it. I definitely wouldn’t have finished the double if I had gotten that one. With thick cuts of bacon lettuce and tomatoes with lots of pickles. I love pickles so the amount they gave me was perfect. With lots of fries no skimping on the fries i mean full serving of crinkle cut fries season and crispy it was enough to share with my husband who got the mushroom burger with a side salad. Alot of good options for next time to try. Comfortable atmosphere small but doesn’t feel like your right on or too close to other tables.

I have been going to a Renaes for breakfast for years already enjoy her great food and service. But this morning 10/19/25 my friends and I came and had breakfast and my steak wasn’t cooked that great. The owner walks up to our table and pays attention to the fact that I didn’t eat my steak and immediately refunded some of my money back without me even saying a word. She already had my loyalty because of her great food and service and this just shows why her place is loved by so many and I don’t even live in Bakersfield. I’m coming from Fresno . Love you Renae, keep up the great work.

Delicious food, great service, fun and relaxing environment. I have been wanting to go here for a while due to their extremely high rating on google maps (I think the highest I’ve seen in town) and it did not disappoint. The cobb salad was absolutely huge and came with a very generous portion of good blue cheese. There was a ridiculous amount of meat and the bacon was extremely good and obviously made in house. The clam chowder was probably the best I’ve had from a non-oceanfront restaurant. Really liked the chunks of crab in it. The fish and chips were a little heavily breaded for my taste but the pieces of fish were large and delicious.
