Phenomenal. Tío Martín Esteban is amazing and the best ever!!! Food was amazing and wonderful, I came from Morelia Michoacán to eat here and 100% authentic Mexican cuisine. Carne asada, even the fried ice cream, which technically isn’t authentic Mexican postre, but it’s wonderful to say the least. My family emigrated from Mexico to live and work here in the US and came to Indiana for the steel mills up North. The food here is comforting for me. You won’t find a better place in Spencer Indiana for genuine authentic Mexican food.

The server messed up our order. The queso was runny. The turnaround on ordering and food plated was twice as long as other similar Mexican restaurants. The decor is the most beautiful I have ever seen, but it isn’t worth it to stay and order. I suggest walking across the parking lot to McDonalds.

This place use to be so good. Went yesterday and it was horrible. The chips tasted stale and like they were cooked in old grease. My food was literally drowning in sauce. Guacamole had way too much lemon or lime in it.
The food was barely hot. My husband said his food was OK.
Prices keep going up. Service was good. Music was strange.
Just an unpleasant experience. We won’t be back there over 45 bucks for 2 meals and an order of fries and water. Just way over priced for the quality of food. Plus have had stomach issues since eating there.

Love this place. Waiters have been here for a long time. They are very friendly. Food always seasoned good. Only complaint the salsa is sometimes watery and tasteless. Cheese sauce is pricey.

If you enjoy Mexican food and drink this is your choice to go. The wife and I were impressed with the layout of the restaurant and the decorations. It might be a little over the top for some. The food was good and I enjoyed the ‘fajita’ lunch special. The wife had the tacos and rice lunch. They have several different brands of hot sauces to make you feel at home.

El Ranchero has made itself a staple in Spencer and for good reason. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible, like an overwhelming art museum and an ocean of colors and details. The food is always hot and fresh, the staff is lively and welcoming, and the price is absolutely affordable. I ordered the pollo con queso and was surprised to see three chicken breasts smothered in bubbling hot cheese as opposed to just one or two like I would have received in Bloomington’s Mexican restaurants. The chips were crisp yet buttery and hot. The salsa was very flavorful. And the entire atmosphere has the perfect summer night magic.

Having lived in Corona, NY for 7 years, I’m quite accustomed to authentic Latino cuisine, and this establishment definitely fits the bill. Tasty, authentic Mexican food in a traditional, colorful setting. The dinner plates are huge!
