The quintessential al fresco dining experience with spectacular ocean views, Veranda is a journey of familiarity rediscovered. The menu of exceptionally prepared American favorites is inspired by The Del’s Southern California roots, elevating clean, fresh flavors and regional produce, while classic cocktails and a California-forward wine list provide the finishing touch.

Reviews
From the moment we sat down, Cody, Joseph, and Armando made us feel genuinely cared for. Not just “good service” cared for — I mean above and beyond, next-level hospitality that you don’t forget.
Cody was incredibly warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, making every course feel special.
Joseph checked on us with perfect timing every single time, making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed.
And Armando absolutely elevated the entire experience with flawless presentation, professionalism, and the kind of genuine care that’s rare to find.
Every dish was unforgettable — beautifully prepared, perfectly cooked, and presented like something out of a fine dining magazine. We ordered the tomahawk and several sides, and each plate tasted like pure luxury. You can truly feel the passion and craftsmanship in every bite.
The ambiance, the view, the food, the team… everything came together in the most extraordinary way. We both left saying the same thing:
“That was the best dining experience of our lives.”
If you’re visiting the Hotel Del or even just San Diego in general, you absolutely must eat at Veranda — and if you’re lucky enough to be taken care of by Cody, Joseph, and Armando, consider your night made.
We’ll remember this evening forever.
We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 44th anniversary, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve ever had. Not only was it ridiculously overpriced, but the quality simply didn’t come close to matching the cost.
The service was just okay at best—our waiter repeatedly forgot things, which became frustrating as the evening went on. The food, however, was the biggest letdown. My filet was barely a 2-inch square, and the so-called “whole lobster” was chewy, tasteless, and so tiny they brought out three of them—each no bigger than a small shrimp. For the price we paid, this was unacceptable.
On a positive note, my wife did enjoy the beet salad, but that was the only highlight of the entire meal.
Overall, this was a very, very disappointing experience. Save your money. There are far better places to celebrate a special occasion.
expected the food to be okay but it actually was outstanding! had the mac and the whole chicken and both were extremely good. Drinks and dessert also delicious. Reasonable prices everything considered.
Our waiter was also awesome! The hostess was rude tho but don’t let that broke negativity stop you from getting some good food
The setting made the evening even more magical. The weather was beautiful and the lamp heaters added just the right touch of warmth and comfort, allowing us to fully enjoy the outdoor ambiance. Although the hotel was understandably overwhelmed with visitors during the holiday season, it did not detract in any way from our evening. The service remained impeccable—attentive, gracious and seamless throughout the entire meal.
The hotel itself is simply breathtaking. This was our first time staying at Hotel del Coronado and our first time dining at The Veranda, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget. A truly gorgeous property paired with incredible dining and service—an unforgettable holiday celebration.
As for the food, hmm… honestly, I felt that $50 per person was a bit much. Overall, there seemed to be fewer options. I wish there were more vegetables and hot dishes. But I guess with the high cost of living, it’s understandable.
