Had a really nice large group meal here during the winter holiday season. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable, and each person enjoyed their food. The beet salad, clam chowder (served in a mini-bread bowl), French fries were all great….and the seafood tower was amazing! Several people also had the espresso martini at end of meal and it was excellent also.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Veranda tonight for our three-year anniversary, and we are still speechless. This was, without exaggeration, the best meal we have ever had in our entire lives — and equally, the best service we’ve ever received anywhere.

From the moment we sat down, Cody, Joseph, and Armando made us feel genuinely cared for. Not just “good service” cared for — I mean above and beyond, next-level hospitality that you don’t forget.

Cody was incredibly warm, attentive, and knowledgeable, making every course feel special.
Joseph checked on us with perfect timing every single time, making sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed.
And Armando absolutely elevated the entire experience with flawless presentation, professionalism, and the kind of genuine care that’s rare to find.

Every dish was unforgettable — beautifully prepared, perfectly cooked, and presented like something out of a fine dining magazine. We ordered the tomahawk and several sides, and each plate tasted like pure luxury. You can truly feel the passion and craftsmanship in every bite.

The ambiance, the view, the food, the team… everything came together in the most extraordinary way. We both left saying the same thing:
“That was the best dining experience of our lives.”

If you’re visiting the Hotel Del or even just San Diego in general, you absolutely must eat at Veranda — and if you’re lucky enough to be taken care of by Cody, Joseph, and Armando, consider your night made.

We’ll remember this evening forever.

The breakfast buffet is expensive, but it is worth the money for the experience, atmosphere, and the food. Beach Club casual is fine. There were people with shorts and t-shirts, slacks and button ups, and jeans and polos. But there were no swimsuit clad individuals. This is not a walk off the beach place. But it’s also not a long pants a collar place either. Think classy beach/athleisure wear and you’ll be fine. If you have kids, it’s a great place to hit the beach for some beach strolling. The Hotel has restrooms so if you are planning to go to the beach bring a bag with a change of clothes for the kids.

We love the Del but the Veranda is a hard NO!
We chose this restaurant to celebrate our 44th anniversary, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we’ve ever had. Not only was it ridiculously overpriced, but the quality simply didn’t come close to matching the cost.

The service was just okay at best—our waiter repeatedly forgot things, which became frustrating as the evening went on. The food, however, was the biggest letdown. My filet was barely a 2-inch square, and the so-called “whole lobster” was chewy, tasteless, and so tiny they brought out three of them—each no bigger than a small shrimp. For the price we paid, this was unacceptable.

On a positive note, my wife did enjoy the beet salad, but that was the only highlight of the entire meal.

Overall, this was a very, very disappointing experience. Save your money. There are far better places to celebrate a special occasion.

I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I was not satisfied with the taste of anything I ordered. I ordered a Cosmopolitan, and it was warm; the fries were cold, and the chicken I ordered was undercooked. I will also add a picture of the chicken to my review. My friend ordered mac and cheese and added chicken, but she said the chicken was very dry. Our waiter really tried his best and told me I could order anything from the menu to make up for it, but I knew that the new order I would place would be bad as well, so I didn’t want to waste any more time

great vibes, romantic, oceanside

expected the food to be okay but it actually was outstanding! had the mac and the whole chicken and both were extremely good. Drinks and dessert also delicious. Reasonable prices everything considered.

Our waiter was also awesome! The hostess was rude tho but don’t let that broke negativity stop you from getting some good food

Beautiful patio views of the ocean with delicious food. The mushrooms were delicious and the crab salad had plenty of crab on top. The old fashion was good, a unique take that tasted good and was not too strong or sweet. Very attentive service and a relaxed, southern California atmosphere.

Our experience at The Veranda at Hotel del Coronado was absolutely exceptional. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. The food was outstanding—truly memorable—and I was especially thrilled that our Christmas Dinner fell on a Thursday so I could indulge in the famous 36-hour prime rib, which was nothing short of perfection.

The setting made the evening even more magical. The weather was beautiful and the lamp heaters added just the right touch of warmth and comfort, allowing us to fully enjoy the outdoor ambiance. Although the hotel was understandably overwhelmed with visitors during the holiday season, it did not detract in any way from our evening. The service remained impeccable—attentive, gracious and seamless throughout the entire meal.

The hotel itself is simply breathtaking. This was our first time staying at Hotel del Coronado and our first time dining at The Veranda, and it was an experience we won’t soon forget. A truly gorgeous property paired with incredible dining and service—an unforgettable holiday celebration.

Our server was great and it was fun being outside near the ice rink at such a historic hotel. The Parker House rolls, roasted Brussel sprouts and smash burger were standouts. Unfortunately, the clam chowder and butternut squash risotto, while decent, were not as good as we expected given the venue and price. I did appreciate that the server allowed me to reorder when the Monkeys in the Garden cocktail proved bland.

I visited for brunch. The location is amazing with a view of the ocean. The service was good, though I think it varies depending on the staff. A friendly server asked if we wanted our photo taken and if we wanted coffee to go. Unfortunately, my server didn’t do that, but it’s okay.

As for the food, hmm… honestly, I felt that $50 per person was a bit much. Overall, there seemed to be fewer options. I wish there were more vegetables and hot dishes. But I guess with the high cost of living, it’s understandable.
