We visited on the first day of Ramadan, and their hospitality truly stood out. They kindly asked whether we were fasting and what time we would be breaking our fast. Exactly at the right time, they brought us dates to break our fast, such a thoughtful and respectful gesture.
They also generously offered their special hummus with fresh bread at no charge, and it was absolutely delicious. We ordered the lamb and beef. The lamb was amazing, tender and full of flavour. The beef was slightly more well done than we prefer, but still very tasty.
Overall, we really enjoyed our time there. If I’m in Hobart again, I would definitely love to visit again.

On holidays in hobart and This meal has set the standard for all food we had this trip. Our meal was absolutely spectacular, all 4 of my friends and I agreed everything was delicious and top quality. The pumpkin in particular was out standing.

Wow. Delicious, the best meal we’ve ever had, I feel like I have to reassess all of my google reviews/ratings and adjust it based on Syra because Syra is the new standard. We got the “feed me” 5 plate banquet, everything was so delicious but the lamb shoulder was the standout. We forgot to take photos because everything was so incredible that we didnt even consider it, so here are a few photos of dishevelled plates 😛

Syra is a Middle Eastern style restaurant in the core of Salamanca Square in Hobart. It is such a hidden gem. It was such a nice surprise when you do not know what to expect.

Everything was perfect: the service, the freshness of the food, the cleanliness of the whole restaurant. The decor brings you to a whole new world.

We chose the “feed me” option where we let the kitchen choose for us. The courses kept on arriving. They were so delicious. The portions were perfect (I would say too small as I wanted more) but the plates kept on being served. We satisfied our appetite.

I totally recommend for anyone who loves tasty and savoury foods. Good job Syra!

A hidden gem recommended by a friend. Staff was really friendly, and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

The Chermoula chicken and the fried cauliflower took the prize. The chicken was succulent and the accompanying flavors were just chef’s kiss. I wanted more and more of the cauliflower, it was the most satisfying appetizer I’ve had in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised by how they managed to make the lentils so unique and hearty.

The poached pear and baklava dessert was nice but I wouldn’t say it stood out as a dessert for me.

I combed through reviews of best restaurants in Hobart to ensure our final meal in Tasmania was an excellent one, and this had to be, hands down, some of the best food I’ve eaten in my life.
The host was delightful, and the food was not only beautifully presented, the flavours of each dish were so finely crafted, and just superb. We had the hummus, the cauliflower, the artichoke, and the market fish and we truly couldn’t pick a favourite. I thought I hated cauliflower (my friend ordered that) but the spices and flavouring converted me to a cauliflower lover.
If you’re in Hobart and love food, you simply MUST dine here.
Thank you so much for these perfectly curated dishes, and for the best dining experience we could’ve had. 10/10.

Walked in and was fortunate to have enough space for the whole family. First impressions, service was great and the menu had a lot of options.

We decided to order (all) of the entrees since it gave us the biggest variety of food without being too filling.

The standouts for the night were the king prawns . Fresh, full of flavour with an awesome bisque. Pumpkin was roasted perfectly and the cauliflower was nicely spiced as well. Squid and cucumber are worthy mentions as well. We loved the artichoke as well.

The disappointments (we are being very picky here) were the hommus and the beef koftas.

I wouldn’t recommend the cocktails, this is not a cocktail lounge. But the food. 5/5 stars ✨

What a fantastic surprise to experience Syra, a great restaurant tucked into Salamanca Place!
So many options, we went with the ‘Feed Me’ choice as we couldnt make up our minds…. A five course journey that just complimented each dish, one after the other… it was all very very good. Absolutely beautiful fusion food in the best possible way.

The service was bang on, attentive staff and the drinks and food just kept flowing.
Lovely, warm, clean and delightful with superb service and tastey food.

Good beer, wine and spirits list too… just keeps getting better!

It’s an AA++ from me.
