Update for this review: the owner doesn’t take responsibility for their performance. I am not related to anyone in the area and this is a legitimate review. If the time spent arguing reviews was spent on food and service, it may allow for improvement.
It’s hard for me to complain about food. Unfortunately, I do not recommend food from The Meaner Wiener. We have had subs from John Smiths that were great. The food from Meaner Wiener I wouldn’t feed to a dog. We got two kids hot dog meals, a Rueben hotdog and the buffalo chicken fries.
This is a picture of the fries, which looks as if they were topped with beef jerky, and that was the consistency of the meat. There was no bacon or cheese as advertised. The fries were like cardboard and were obviously old.
We got our food to go an was assured silverware was in the bag, it was not.
All of the food was cold, even the buns were stale and hard.
I called to express my concerns and was told I would receive my money back since I paid with a card. That was a couple of weeks ago and I have not received my refund.

My wife and I were in Middlesborro staying for a cpl nights to see the gap. I aways gravitate towards local food places. My wife and I love a good hotdog being both from the Chicago area. This place sounded like it was gonna a be a big score in local cuisine, we were very wrong. It started out with us ordering two giant gourmet hotdogs, we asked for the “plain jane” dogs. The cashier rang us up for 2 coney dogs minus the cheese/ mustard and onions only which made it $1.50 more per dog! The girl just saying, that’s how I rang it up, we told her that we did not really want to pay $3.00 more because it was easier for her. So that part was over then we got the food, the hotdog was mid at best, they claim it is so big they need a 6 inch sub bun for it, but it would be fine on a regular bun, you end up throw out bread in the end, the dogs were very disappointing, barely warm, the cheese fries actually made me laugh! It was just a cup of shredded cheese!! What in the world do you want me to do with that??! We were pretty baffled by it to the point we could just laugh and count it as a loss,we were overcharged for what we got but we won’t give up on the local cuisine, we still have dinner to go!

I had went by there to try the new restaurant. I’m not normally the one to complain but when I went to the window they told me they were our of hamburgers, sour kraut, etc. So, I ended just to get something simple and ordered the cheese curds. They were not curds at all. All are busted and the cheese is in a glob. I had even attempted to eat them but they only tasted like the grease. It really makes me think I didn’t miss out on the menu items their out of.

Food was PHENOMENAL. Service was PHENOMENAL. Atmosphere was PHENOMENAL. Come try it yourself. I felt so comfortable and was full as a tick by the time I left! 10/10 recommend.

It’s 7:50 pm now. It states on their website they close at 8. When we pulled into the parking lot at 7:45 and got out to go inside, a woman ran up and locked the door. We were excited to get to try a new place, but after this I don’t think I want to try it anymore.

Ordered two hot dogs and two subs and it was over $60. Waited over 35 minutes on an almost empty evening. After 30 mins and them asking me multiple times what I had ordered I asked for a refund and they said they couldn’t and come to find out my food was bagged already and was sitting there getting cold for 20 mins. Order was wrong and hot dogs were extremely soggy. Sub was pretty decent. Nice restaurant and environment tho. May have been a bad night for the staff but I will not be returning. Edited- @owner I don’t work for whichever competitor you’re speaking of. Food was genuinely bad
