The Onion is a solid, casual pizza spot that’s easy to like. The pizza came out hot with a nicely baked crust and plenty of toppings, and the slices held together well—no messy, soggy middle. The menu is straightforward, the prices feel fair for the portion size, and it’s a good place to grab a quick bite without overthinking it. Service was friendly and moved at a decent pace, even when it got a little busy. Not a life-changing pizza, but definitely a reliable place I’d return to for a simple, good meal. I put a photo from my professional cam.

Great pizza, service is decent. I work downtown so I love how close it is to get a bite. However, as of Jan 22 2026 this place is CLOSED I don’t know why when it clearly says they’re open. Very disappointed.

Bomb pizza slice and excellent service even at 1am. A little expensive but honestly better than some pizza up north (Boston, NYC). Loved!

If you’re craving a no-frills, late afternoon bite, The Onion is the perfect spot. Tucked into compact quarters, this unassuming to-go counter is all about satisfying your hunger with simple, classic fare. Whether you’re grabbing a slice after a night out or picking up a pizza roll on the go, they’ve got you covered.
The menu sticks to the basics—pizza pies, calzones, and pizza rolls—but that’s exactly what makes it great. The pizzas are straightforward yet delicious, with crispy crusts, melty cheese, and just the right amount of toppings. It’s the kind of comfort food you want when it’s late and you’re in need of something satisfying.
Despite the small space, service is quick and friendly, perfect for those who want to get in and out without a fuss. And the fact that they’re open late makes them a go-to spot for night owls and anyone in need of a reliable bite after hours.
The onion may be compact and no-frills, but it delivers exactly what you need when you’re craving a classic, late-night slice.

Best little pizza place in Austin. Amazing service and lovely atmosphere, it’s so cozy. The pizza itself is phenomenal and the perfect midnight meal, or anytime meal. Will be driving downtown just to get it again.

Last night I ordered 3 Large one topping pizzas, they charged me $67 that was double the price that is shown on their website. On their website, it shows $12.99 for a one topping large pizza. When I called back, they gave me the excuse of “well the website is old. It need to be updated”. Smh
My total should’ve came out to be $38.97 plus tax so round it up to $45
Let’s just say I’m highly upset, although the pizza was great, but it also ruined my experience!

Me and my fiance come here when we walk down town at night some times, Doug the man at the counter during the night is the best conversationalist ive met in ages.
The guys down to earth, and can toss that dough pretty well.
Best pizza I’ve had in ages that leaves me actually wanting more, and I usually never like pizza! Super cheap too. Absolutely must check this little hole in the wall, out!
