We were looking for a good spot to eat and local residents recommended Red Stag Tavern. The New York strip steak with mashed potatoes and asparagus was only $15 and cooked perfectly. Portions were huge…we couldn’t finish in one sitting. Great food and amazing service.

Red Stag was recommended to me for dinner and specifically for the fish and chips. As I walked in I was greeted right away and made my way to a bar seat. My server/bartender was very pleasant and polite and took excellent care of me.
My dinner and appetizer of fried pickles were delicious and came out hot and in reasonable time. I’ll definitely go back to try other menu items! Give them a try!

Super impressed with the food here.
Onion rings- 5+ Stars. I travel for a living and have had onion rings in pretty much every state and dozens upon dozens of cities, these are hands down the best ones I’ve ever had.
Shrimp fish taco- 5 Stars. Two huge pieces of shrimp with just the right amount of everything in the taco.
Fries oysters – 5 stars-. Not too much to say here, they’re just really good.
Wings – 4.5 stars. Double fried wings taste more like fried chicken than regular chicken wings do, which generally I don’t prefer, but these were fried up just right and very good.
Service was friendly and excellent.

This was our first time here, traveling from out of state. We walked in around 9:30, not aware that the kitchen was closing. Our waitress approached management and they personally came to our table, offering to make us anything from the griddle. The wings were phenomenal (Spicy Garlic Parm and Jameson Honey Whiskey) and the drinks were very reasonably priced.
All of the staff were friendly and checked on us, making us feel very welcomed. The atmosphere left nothing to be desired! We sat on the deck overlooking a small lake- there were string lights, some signs and decor, and just enough light to set a relaxing vibe. They were even decorating for Halloween, and all of the staff were happy and excited, such a nice sight that showcased a family environment.
We later realized it was the owner who had approached us and personally cooked our food! What an amazing way to welcome and take care of customers!
We have added this to our road-trip stops and can not wait to come back here again! Don’t pass this one up, you won’t be disappointed!

I hoped this place was different. Asked for a rare ribeye… got medium rare to medium. Caesar salad was disappointing. Fries were tasty.
I didn’t complain only because i was pressed for time, too tired and hungry. Ate the steak anyway. Seems like every steakhouse I’ve been to lately cannot prepare a properly cooked rare steak.

It doesn’t take long to time for service. The Oysters menu is highly recommended, very good cooking.
The live music start around 8PM.

The Red Stag is a must when in Asheville!
We enjoyed everything. The espresso martini, bison tartar, bison tenderloin and Brussels sprouts were favorites.

When trying to find new restaurants in the area, I came across Red Stag Tavern, which had great reviews for the food, so we decided to try it. Upon walking in, it seemed more sports bar than it did restaurant, which was a little concerning at the time, since we were going to eat and not drink, but we decided to stay. I’m glad we did. The restaurant is a very casual environment, with a “pub” feel entrance and rear dining room with stage, but also a deck off the back of the building which overlooks a pond. Unfortunately the patio was closed the night we went, so we chose to eat in the rear dining area. We ordered the Tavern shrimp as an appetizer, which were large and fried well, also came with a dipping sauce which was pretty tasty. Next we had the Philly cheessteak, with fries, a dude burger, with onion rings, and the house salad. The salad came out nice with fresh greens. The Philly wasn’t the best Philly we’ve had, but was OK. The dude burger (aside from being undercooked, I ordered medium and got red, almost rare inside) was delicious. I ate the while thing even being undercooked. The real surprise, however, were the fries and onion rings, they were delicious. I would go back just for them. The server told us they had trivia nights on Tuesday and live music Friday and Saturday, which all sound like fun, and we will probably return for one of those nights to check them out.

We just love the red stag vibe with 2 dinners! Stayed at americainn so nobrainer to go.
Look at the stunning view after storm with some drinks and meals great ushering into the night. Our two server girls were so nice and amazing.
Love the wings with spicy sauce and geogia beer was surprisingly refreshing.
They have a lake of turtles and fishes (no signs of gators pity), free fish food for leisure time.

Stopped in because the hotel staff recommend them for dinner. The staff are the best and we had a blast with Monday music bingo. Whitney is a rock star.
