We had the most wonderful meal at Kelcys! She and her husband spent personal time with us and they were lovely! Bill is a wonderful chef. The whole staff/family were extraordinarily friendly and welcoming.calling the ingredients are super fresh and delicious and there are a myriad of vegan options as well that are delicious and comprehensive.
Classic, old town, diner atmosphere with wholesome comfort food. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Also, don’t miss walking around to take in the little Tehachepi pictorial museum.
Can’t wait to come back! ❤️

A true hidden gem! ✨ As a vegan, I’m always on the lookout for restaurants that deliver on flavor, spice, and portion size, and this place checked all the boxes. Virginia, the owner, is incredibly warm and kind, and hearing her story made the experience even more special.

I ordered a veganized huevos rancheros, swapping the eggs for fried tofu, and it was absolutely AMAZING! My husband went with the veggie melt, and we were blown away by the vegan thousand island dressing- so good we wanted to bottle it up and take it home.

10/10 recommend, and we can’t wait to come back soon!

Ordered Country fried steak and eggs, & the Biscuit & Gravvy special. First sat down, was offered Orange juice and we got that.

Turns out the orange juice is 8.75 for a glass, and we got two. Country fried steak is just about 22 bucks, and was under beaten, overly chewy due to a low quality cut, and lacked seasoning. The Biscuits are generic, flavorless frozen ones. Bisquick at home is much better.

Honestly, spent $70 bucks on breakfast for two, and its not worth it here. Not very flavorful at all, just not worth it. A tourist trap.

We had a great experience today at Kelcy’s. We usually end up eating across the street when we visit Tehachapi. However, today, we were craving something different, so we went in. We learned that this was the oldest restaurant in Tehachapi, so it felt like we were part of history. Coffee was great, and they even had fresh-squeezed orange juice, which was delicious. The food came, and it was delicious. The service was great. The atmosphere was great. We even loved the choice in music. We are definitely coming back.

The made from scratch menu and friendly service totally makes this place. Best spot to get an old-school banana split or malt, and their food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) has been great every time! Give Virginia’s cozy ole place a try, it’s been around as long as it has for good reason!
Recs: eggs benedict, waffles, chicken fried steak, tuna melt, cobb salad, pork chops, banana split.

Old fashioned diner! Love these type of places. This one didn’t disappoint. We both had burgers and a piece of chocolate cream pie (made in house) that was sooo delicious! This is the oldest restaurant in Tehachapi, but it is amazing. Definitely should check it out if you’re in the area. Should have taken pictures of our food…forgot, sorry. We ate it too fast because it was so good.

We have always loved eating at Kelcy’s restaurant for over 35 years, and rarely have been disappointed. When Kelcy Owen died and his daughters closed the cafe, many sorely missed this beloved eatery. Finally in 2019 Bill and Virginia bought Kelcy’s in order to maintain Kelcy’s tradition and historic interior. I especially love their Chicken Basket, and the sandwiches are always great. We hope to always be able to return to Kelcy’s even if we leave Tehachapi for some reason!

Kelcy’s is a symbolic throwback to simpler times and simple pleasures; had such a positive experience that it’ll always be in my heart.

Jumped in for dessert because the pies were mentioned to be the talk of the town and that’s exactly what we got; fresh fruit pies and coffees! HIT THE SPOT! Not only were the pies great, the customer service we received was superb and much sweeter than the pie…perfect .
Highly recommend!

This place is a dimond in the rough. Fantastic home style cooking just like grandma makes. I had the pastrami sandwich and soup, my dad had the contry fried steak. Quaint, quiet litte diner right in the heart of town. Friendly helpful server’s and privately own. They pies are also amazing. The also have vegan and vegetarian options. Can’t wait to come back and bring my friends.

Big portions and fast service! This is a classic country café with a nice banquet hall and bar in the back. The food was priced reasonably. I ended up getting the rodeo burger and it was cooked just right.
