First, the only thing which went well, was that we were seated fairly quick. When seated, we waited for 15 minutes until we had to get up and ask someone to take our drink order. Another waitress and not our own, took the initiative to work our table #43…which was not her table. In fact, we never saw our assigned waitress. With drink orders in, we decided to place our food order. We had to ask for our utensils because they were not given to us.
It took almost 60 minutes for everyones order to hit the table. We advised our substitute waitress that if we did not get our order soon, we would just pay for our drinks, and go to another restaurant. My order and my father’s order was incomplete, as we did not receive our toast, pancakes, or waffle. We completed our meal, and decided to cancel the rest of our order.
Keeping in mind that I am a blogger, my wife decided to speak with the manager about our experience while I observed for my review. Let me tell you, this “manager” was HORRIBLE! He looked at our receipt and the first question out of his mouth was, “wait, why is all this stuff taken off?”. My wife started informing him of our experience, and it was excuse after excuse. Keep in mind that the restaurant was half empty. He continued by asserting that they are often backed up on the weekends, and he was working the order window. With that said, why did we get two half orders if he was supposedly working the window. Apparently, he is ok with letting incomplete orders go out, and not being able to fulfill all orders. We were not looking for any compensation of any kind. We already accepted the fact that we just experienced some of the worst service imaginable, and it only became worse with this undertrained “manager”. He made no attempt to turn the experience around, and continued to speak down to my wife.
I took our young children to the car, as I already had enough information to give my review and opinion of this poorly managed restaurant. I am actually floored that they have so many positive reviews, as we witnessed many people complaining about the lack of service.
When my wife returned to the car, she informed me that while paying our bill, she was telling our waitress how disappointed she was. Our waitress apologized profusely, and that the staff had conveyed customer complaints to this “manager” and the owner, but their voices go unheard. Which is plausible because of what I witnessed with this “managers” lack of responsibility with my wife. My wife had told our waitress that if she had corporates number, she would call and complain about the “managers” lack of professionalism. Eavesdropping on their conversation and taking such time from the order window, this “manager” came from around the corner, grabbed some receipt paper and wrote down a phone number, and shoved it in front of my wife’s face. I’m betting he knows his actions and ineffective managment skills will go undisciplined. So I’m NOT expecting much from whomever is on the other end of this number.
Notice I used quotation Mark’s around, manager. It’s because this guy is not a manager by any means. He just owns a title, and doesn’t understand the meaning. He is literally running down this establishment to the point where they will have very little repeat business. His lack of professionalism deeply shows, and expecting anything from this place, would be in vein. My recommendation is….stay clear of this place, as there are plenty of better restaurants in the area which are not only better food, but the service is far superior to this business.
Extra note: the owner or whomever was supposed to be on the other end of the number given by so called, “manager”, never called back despite several attempts. This coincides with the waitresses frustration about the lack of leadership.
UPDATE: We went back last Sunday and the experience was worse than terrible. The waitresses were arguing in front of customers. Some lady named April, whom I later found out was the lead waitress, was yelling at other servers and had the tickets so backed up that we waited nearly 2 HOURS for our food! Totally unprofessional and uncouth. I was very disappointed by the service, especially since our first visit was so pleasant. As it turned out, almost every table in the place was experiencing extended wait times for their food; so much so, that several parties left without eating.
Near the end of our meal, Angela comped the meal of the the patrons sitting next to us, but basically ignored our table. I told our waitress we would not be paying for the meal, but we did tip her. Afterward, the owner apologized, which I completely respected, but the likelihood of my returning here is slim. They need to get rid of April, she’s bad for business. A true leader would have acknowledged EVERY table and at the very least extended an apology.
16 minutes later after my wife has finished her main meal, I had to motion for someone to come over to us to finally bring her syrup for her pancake and refill our drink. This was the second time the waitress was aware my food had not arrived.
Another waitress brings the wrong order to our table 6 minutes later and asked me “are you table 25”? Like I know what tables are what number.
At 1015 I call the owner over and tell him that my wife was done with her meal and mine had never arrived. At 1030, I motioned to the owner again and watched him go over to where the food comes out from the kitchen. It still wasn’t there. Now mind you that’s also about 20 minutes since the last time a waitress had to be motioned over to refill our drinks and bring syrup.
My food never arrived after I told the waitress three times and the owner twice. On the second time I had to get the attention of the owner and the food still wasn’t there so we left. Spent an hour and twenty minutes got half our order and drinks refilled once. When I talked to the owner he gave the excuse “it’s only our second week”. Fair enough and if you missed the order once, ok. But miss the order four times after being reminded? That’s not wrinkles in a new restaurant, that’s poor management.
We also watched one couple get angry because they couldn’t get their check. Saw a frustrated guy walking across the restaurant getting his own hot sauce because no one else did. Watched as an elderly couple seated just after us waited 30 minutes before anyone spoke to them at all and saw another customer at the bar area leave when he didn’t get service. Also saw a dad with his daughter revive the same service we did when they waited even longer for a waitress to address them than we did as they were sat before us. My wife has to mention to our waitress that they were there before we were. Awful customer service.
Yes, I was waited on when I came in and, yes, I got my food within a few minutes. However, I never had anyone come and ask about a refill, and one kid kept walking back and forth doing nothing (creepy). They had 2 tables of customers and at least 3 waitstaff.
I’ll go elsewhere. Underwhelming.
