This place is phenomenal. It has fast service, great waiter or waitress staff. Clean easy to get into. And the food was amazing. I’m going to post some pictures of the food. I was delighted we had such a wonderful experience. It’s fantastic that El Serape is a good establishment and phenomenal with great service. We are so pleased that the food was amazing and that the cleanliness met my expectations. The team strives to be friendly and outgoing, and we’re happy the waitress made such a positive impression. Thank you for such a great place.

The fanciest Mexican restaurant in Clarinda!
If you’re okay with a bit of a higher increase in overall prices, this place is very worth it, but even then they have some decent $11-$12 options.
The staff here are so nice! Very friendly and polite. They strike up conversations, refill your glasses in a timely manner, dress very suave, and even volunteer to help put your leftovers away for you!
The atmosphere is very nice, too. The tables are sleek, water is offered in addition to your drink order, and the employee uniform appears to be rather sharp.
And of course the food is amazing. The menu has quite a bit to choose from and I haven’t had anything I regret ordering so far! The quality is superb, everything is delicious.
And their dessert options are top notch as well!

I travel for work so I spend a lot of my time trying different restaurants and every once in a while you come across one that really makes an impression on you. This would fall into that category: The cleanliness of the restaurant and bathroom, the professionalism of the staff, the gourmet Mexican food. everything was made from scratch, down to the chips/salsa. I felt like I was at a high-end restaurant. I will definitely be back here. This is the best Mexican restaurant I’ve ever eaten that and I’ve tried literally hundreds.

Best Mexican food around hands down i won’t go anywhere else hands down. I’ve never walked in and see this place empty it’s always busy and that shows that business is good. The workers are amazing always greet everyone with a smile and are always bubbly, bright , happy. Thank you for always being yourselves and serving amazing food ❤️

The best Mexican food that I have had in several years. The refried beans are out of this world, and the chicken Mole was epic; I could tell that the sauce was homemade and not full of preservatives like the crap in a jar.

Been in this place a few times, honestly I had bad experiences the first times, I asked for hot sauce and never got it. I Asked for chicken and got ground beef. Last time I been there I got piña colada and was delicious I can say that drinks are awesome in this place. I’m a bit skeptical food wise but I will give it another try soon!

After cheering on the bands at the Southwest Iowa Band Jamboree in downtown Clarinda, our family ducked into El Sarape for a post-parade feast where the smoky Tacos Al Carbon—loaded with tender grilled carne asada, fresh onions, and cilantro—melted in our mouths with every bite. The kids beamed over their golden grilled cheese and French fries while we relished the warm, authentic vibes and speedy service that made our victory lap meal utterly perfect.

Love this place! Food is consistently excellent. Can’t say enough positive things about the wait staff and manager – excellent, courteous, attentive service. Margaritas are excellent and not that weird artificial green mix you get at so many Mexican restaurants.
