From their fluffy frosted cookies to their Dutch strips, pinwheels & almond horns that are packed with a signature almond flavor that keeps me coming back -their baked goods are legendary, but their lunch options are just as amazing!
My go-to is the chicken salad croissant sandwich—fresh, flavorful, and packed with crisp veggies. But I may have found a new favorite in the grilled chicken wrap—a perfect balance of grilled goodness and fresh ingredients.
PRO TIP: Make it a basket meal to get a cookie with your lunch (I always go for oatmeal raisin), or go for a lite lunch and pair your sandwich with one of their delicious homemade soups.

Our sales lady at Reddeker’s furniture suggested this place when we asked for a recommendation on where to eat locally. The three of us ladies had a tuna melt, a chicken salad sandwich and a grilled chicken salad and all had a Dutch Letter. All of our food was wonderful. Small restaurant but every table was filled. While none of us got coffee with our order the coffee bar looked like it had a great selection.

Excellent place. Super cheap and they have a huge variety of pastries, bagels and donuts. They also offer coffee and tea to go or you can even stay there and enjoy the nice environment of the place having your meal in one of the tables.

Visited the Dutch Oven Bakery in Boone on a very nice Fall afternoon in Iowa, after we had hiked the nearby Ledges State Park (look for a review on he park elsewhere.) Folks, this bakery has been around forever, and they serve up some of the freshest pastries and goods you’ll find. I chose a “Sticky Bun” (pic shown) and my wife had an Apple Turnover. We also got 2 sugar cookies for later (also shown.) Both the Sticky Bun and Turnover were like they just came out of the oven. Yeah, they were that fresh. We didn’t have the cookies until the next day, and surprisingly, they were still pretty soft.
Great job, Dutch Oven … you served up some 5-star treats on what just happened to be my birthday!

If you’re hoping for that small-town bakery experience you remember as a child this might be the place for you. Fresh baked Dutch delicacies in long glass cases line the back wall where you can also order lunch items lovingly prepared by the (Dutch?) And delivered to your table. My Reuben sandwich was delicious but the portions run a bit small for the price. Don’t miss the pastries!
