Tucked inside the beautifully restored and historic Watermark Hotel, The Gregory delivers the kind of experience that reminds you why downtown Baton Rouge has so much charm.

One of its greatest draws? A wonderfully long happy hour that runs from 2 PM to 7 PM, offering guests the perfect window – five full hours – to unwind, settle in, and savour something special.

The bar program here is exceptional. The wine list is thoughtful and varied, the cocktail menu is creative without being fussy, and the overall selection shows a real respect for both classic and modern flavours.

What truly elevates the experience, though, are the spirited bartenders, Amy and Benjamin, whose warm service and easy conversation make the bar feel like a place you’ve been coming to for years. Their recommendations hit the mark, and their energy adds a brightness to the room that’s impossible to miss.

As for the food, The Gregory shines just as brightly. The Vault Burger is a must-try – savory, satisfying, and one of those burgers that stays on your mind long after the last bite.

The Sensation Salad is light, refreshing, and the perfect balance to the richer offerings. And the garlic truffle fries? Crispy, aromatic, and decadent perfection.

To round it all out, a pint of Purple Haze from Abita Brewing brings a wonderfully refreshing finish, especially during happy hour.

With its steady buzz, lively conversations, and effortless blend of historic setting and modern hospitality, The Gregory is a place where you can truly immerse yourself in the best of downtown Baton Rouge.

Whether you’re settling in for a long happy hour or stopping by for a memorable meal, it’s a spot that delivers charm, flavour, and warmth in equal measure.

Surprisingly good food. Gumbo was the best. Staff attentive and friendly. Clean, quiet area for a nice relaxing meal. Nice choices for breakfast including a fresh berry option instead of mixed fruit which is so often chunks of under-ripe melon.

I celebrated my birthday dinner here with friends in 2023, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Valet parking made arrival easy, and the ambiance set the tone for a classy night out. The food was absolutely amazing — flavorful, beautifully presented, and well worth the visit.

What stood out even more was the building’s architecture. The original design and elevators have been preserved, giving the space a unique charm that blends history with elegance.

Overall: 5/5. Highly recommend for a sophisticated evening in downtown Baton Rouge.

First time i came in about a year ago,it was quite good. But this time I was very disappointed with my brunch experience. Service was slow, our server may have been new but she seemed a bit lost. I ordered the breakfast bowl with no eggs, thinking it came with chorizo as listed on the menu but received a mediocre bowl of cheesy potatoes. My sister ordered the soup and we were shocked to hear 5 dollars for a baguette to go with her soup. I understand its a nicer restaurant but 5 bucks for a piece of bread is pushing it. Overall, not sure id return to brunch. Shame because the hotel and restaurant are gorgeous, not sure what happened this morning.

Came here for a night cap drink but ended up have a host of plates. Over performed for sure.

The crab cakes were the best plate we tried, with real seafood. The burger slapped as well. The patty was great chuck.

I’ve been looking for an excellent filet for a while now, and I finally found it at The Gregory. It was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth. The truffle fries caught me off guard with how good they were. The staff here was excellent, and there was a pretty wide selection of drinks. I’m definitely putting The Gregory on the rotation list of places to eat

Gabrielle and Victoria have been outstanding to work with! I drive in and it was my first time staying at The Watermark and it made my day talking to them and watching both of them work! I ordered (2) bowls of gumbo in part to Gabrielle’s suggestion. I broke my rule in eating (2) bowls and it was worth it because of the quality of service that both of these outstanding bartenders provided us. They made the visit remarkable!

The service here was horrible for me and my family. The waitress wasn’t attentive at all. We had Presley as our server and I feel as if she needs more training. She didn’t even offer us knives or plates to cut our birthday cake. The food was okay, but the service that we received made the entire experience horrible. We definitely won’t be returning.
