I’ve been wanting to stop in for a while and finally did today to get lunch for the crew. Mike & his daughter were so friendly and chatted with me while I waited for the order to be ready. I’m on crutches right now and they even got everything into the truck for me. I got a bag of shrimp/pork egg rolls and 4 sandwiches – all of my guys noted it was one of the best banh mi they had ever had. Coffee was great too.
Excellent choices throughout which I’m excited to try again in the future.
You won’t regret it!!!
The food! I was delighted to see bun bo hue on the menu, I loved eating it when I was younger but I’m limited now. They have bun bo chay a vegetarian version so we ordered one beef, one vegetarian, a tofu bahn mi and vietnames coffee.
Spicy beef noodle soup: my partner described it as savory, tangy and slightly spicy. There were pork trotters and Vietnamese ham. No pork blood but I know not everyone does that.
Spicy vegetarian noodle soup: tangy, spicy, salty and everything I needed, served with chili oil, mint and cabbage. The real delight was the toppings, fried tofu skin, immigration vietnamese ham, fake beef, king oyster mushrooms and some crispy salty things I couldn’t identify. Each piece I could tell what it was a homage to You can tell this was crafted with love. Every topping was a different texture and flavor reminding me of the bun bo hue I had in my youth. Amazing!
Tofu bahn mi: crisy chewy bread, savory sauce and a fresh and crispy pickled diakon raddish slaw. Three layers of thinly sliced marinated fried tofu. Delicious.
Vietnamese coffee: creamy and complex, there was a depth of flavor that clings to your tongue was you drink it. The topping was forthy and almost caramel tasting.
Definitely give this place a try I am so happy this place is here I’m the heart of burien serving delicious food with warm smiles.
The place is clean and bright, cheerful and friendly. The wonderful family running the restaurant are working hard to make it special.
It’s no wonder this place has quickly become a popular lunch destination for local workers from the auto shop next door, the car dealership, the hospital and other surrounding businesses. During my visit, the lunchtime crowd line was out the door. Many had been there multiple times already. All seemed excited to have such a great new place in the neighborhood.
The Burien food scene just keeps getting better! Nissi Deli and Bakery is a great addition.
