We used to go to Sik Gaek before management changed, and the place changed A LOT. An iykyk type of place ~ honestly a bit sus on the outside LOL but the inside was cool, giving the classic metal round tables, stools, and red tarp.
For a Saturday night, around 7:30pm the place is starting to get busy. When you hit 9:00pm, it gets BUSY busy and quite loud – but honestly, it’s still a vibe, we like the energy!
For their food, the pork belly and chicken gizzard, and the kimchi, chives, and garlic that came with them were my favorite! Cooked very well, very tasty!
We also got the odeng soup, which was also good, but I felt was lacking, compared to what was served previously.

This took the place of the oldie but goodie shik gaek. It was frankly surprising how good everything was here, considering it is known primarily as a bar and looks like it has quite the small kitchen. All the soups we tried were delicious, pancake crispy and good. The pork jowl and shishito peppers were a table favorite. They only item we did not love was the tonkatsu – meat was a bit dry and the sauce came on it which is atypical. Definitely adding this to rotation and can’t wait to be back to try other dishes. Staff was attentive.

This is hands down the best Korean food I’ve ever had. Every dish was packed with so much flavor, and everything came out piping hot and fresh. The portions were generous, especially for how reasonable the prices are. It’s also incredibly convenient for a late-night meal after a long night out. So, so good — I’ll definitely be coming back!

I’ve been here twice already because I really liked their food. Their 감자탕(Pork bone stew) is amazing. It may look little pricy when you first see the menu but the portion is for this soup is about 2+ ppl. So if you are drinker, order this menu as your main soup to slurp and order few other stuff like 항정살 볶음(stir-fried pork jowl) as you drink.

I had high expectations before coming here, but the service was disappointing. I asked for my food to be a little spicy, and the server charged me an extra $1 without any explanation. If they had explained it, I wouldn’t have minded paying even $2 more. I usually tip 20%, but this time I left a smaller tip. There are plenty of other Korean restaurants around, and I don’t want to pay 20% for this kind of service. Also, when I looked at the tip receipt, it started at 20% — I’m not sure what kind of attitude that is.

Loved this korean traditional bar setting! Food was just so authentic, delicious and large portion.. hope to continue making trips here when we can find the opportunity to and continue to try all of the delicious food and drinks!
