Lunch specials made my trip easy with little to no wait. So much other traffic with door dash and order pick-up. They have thrived over the years and the food is still good. Good drink selection with 3 fridges to choose from.

ordered salmon platter with cabbage and yams ♂️. the salmon taste like they were frozen fillets from aldi and I didn’t like that random sauce on the fish. cabbage is sweet and mushy. the yams are candied taste like yam flavored sugar ♂️. My first time here and last!

Great food, friendly people. Me and a buddy stopped here before the Union game. We both got the jerk chicken, and agreed it was some of the best food we’ve ever had. Highly recommend and will be coming again!!

Different Cheesesteak #1165. This was a good day to be me!! Jerk Chicken Cheesesteak was on the specials board; $10.50. Sweet Potato Pound cake; $5. You know I love those prices!! Sweet Potato Pound cake may be the best thing I bought on my Philadelphia Cheesesteak Adventure. Jerk Chicken Cheesesteak had a ton of flavor. I got it the way OB makes it. Hot or mild, I went mild. Still had a little kick. Not a lot of cheese but do I want a lot of cheese covering the jerk Chicken flavor?!?!? Don’t be in a hurry, OB’s is on Island time.

I am visiting the area from out of town, and I decided to order the oxtail meal. This was such a disappointment and missed opportunity! Advice for the cook, cooking authentic Jamaican food requires seasoning. My oxtail was boiled with salt and pepper!! No onion, browning, pimento, Pinto beans, and thyme, a requirement for Caribbean cuisine. I can go on, but I will stop there. The meat was soft, but there was no flavor to any of it. Thank you but never again!

I ordered myself some Brown Stew Chicken, rice, and beans with some sweet potatoes. I loved every bit of it! Everything about it was on point! Portion size was great enough for 2-3servings with the large that I got. The taste was so fresh that I tasted every ingredient definitely made with love! The lady at the front is always welcoming with a smile. Service is fast, I always take my food to go, but you can dine in. Not one of my best photos, but it’s gonna have to do;)

“New customer & First Impression Review.” Nice family establishment. Customer service also nice.
Now as for the food I gave OB’s “1 stars ⭐” this was based on the taste, freshness of the food & my overall experience. I would’ve like to give 1 & a half stars but you can’t give halfs & I definitely couldn’t afford 2.
I order a large oxtail platter for $17 it came with (2) sides and I chose cabbage & red beans & rice. I hadn’t eaten all day so I quickly sampled the cabbage (my favorite side) before plating at home & immediately confused at how sweet it was; Hoping it was just a oddly sweet 1st bite I tried it again & the disappoint set in that the cabbage was ruined by the tremendous amount of sugar used. Hold tight as we’re still kinda going down hill. The oxtails were pretty fatty & lacked that authentic Caribbean flavor. The oxtails kind of just tasted boiled with some seasonings but absolutely no herbs or spices could be detected. The red beans & rice was mediocre at best. I also ordered an additional side of cabbage because as I mentioned cabbage is my favorite side dish when ordering Caribbean food; Bad decision (extra $5 bucks down the drain). I order 2 beef patties & 1 chicken pattie. The patties were okay (see photos). Lastly I order a large coco bread which was probably the highlight of the entire order.
This visit left a bad taste in my mouth & in my pocket as I now need to figure out another dinner option since we couldn’t fill up on coco bread & a few meat patties. Needless to say revisiting OB’s of Chester is out of the question. Overall my Fiancé & I were dissatisfied.
This review is based on my Chester location experience.
I have actually tried their Delaware location in the past & was really impressed at the authentic taste & flavors in their food. The Chester & Delaware locations are like night & day in comparison.
Pssst : Hey OB, Send your Delaware cooks down to your Chester location to give them a few pointers.
