I’ll start with the positives. The atmosphere was nice. It is a really quaint, little restaurant. The food was good (not great – I’ve certainly had better Mexican, but it was decent). The negatives – service was really slow. Some at our table had finished eating before my wife and I had even received our entrees. And my biggest pet peeve – they couldn’t keep our drinks filled. We went long periods without anything to drink. We would ask the server to refill the drinks and she would say ok, but would disappear and we wouldn’t see her for 10 minutes. BTW – we were drinking water so it’s not like she was waiting on drinks to be made. Overall, I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here.

Authentic food with lots of flavor, many options and family friendly service.
Salsa bar had me at Helllo… offering cut up fresh cilantro along with lots of salsa options. If you’re a cilantro lover, you know this is a welcomed addition to any dish, can’t have too much!
Offer many different style of beverages that would be nostalgic to locals.
Full bar and great margaritas
They have added a beautiful new covered porch with lots of extra seating and space for large groups.

2025 Update: Review of El Sol Mexican Restaurant
The restaurant has changed names. The food is still delicious, but the service is the worst I’ve ever encountered. The waitress was friendly, but she actually lost our order and had to take it a second time after a long wait. She never brought the check even after we requested it. We finally just stood at the register in her path until she took our money. Don’t go here expecting a quick lunch.
They have added a covered outdoor space that is very nice, but they were playing music so loud out there that you wouldn’t want to sit there.

Absolutely delicious food. I have been many times. Their meat is charcoal grilled and so good! There is a salsa bar. Everything is reasonably priced. The service is excellent! Win win win!

Steak quesadilla was spot on salsa bar was on point. The guy with the curly head prepared some bomb cantaritos He’s the real reason I had to make this review. Anyone that goes gotta try them !

The people and workers were very nice and kids were happy and the food was good and when we first came in we were first greeted and first gave us chips and salsa and the price here were very good and it had a salsa bar here and not lots of places has this salsa bar and I would highly recommend you to come here

Same menu as when it was Maria’s, and the food is still excellent. They added a roof over the patio, which is awesome because I love sitting out there. With the shade and protection from rain, it’ll be nice any time.

Very quaint, comfy. smelled real good like you walked into a grandma’s home. everything looked good. almost everything was ten bucks or more. I got chicken molé but it was called molé poblano. Plates were big tasty, and very filling. Loved it.
